was the course not measured last 2 years
I believe Scott went over this last year. Courses aren't measured every single year. If Eddy hadn't run a master's record we would still assume it's 10 miles. Once courses are certified they are only measured again if a)someone runs a record, b)the course is altered in any way, or c)the organizers request it. As Scott said last year, when the Papa John's people told him they planned to move the start line up a bit to move away from the intersection he told them the running masses probably wouldn't miss a couple 100 yards BUT if they ever plan on turning it into a MAJOR race instead of a local race they should have to re-certify. This was BEFORE Estes got involved with the race. The problem was that the PJ people likely forgot what Scott said and thus didn't pass it on to Estes or anyone else and so they just assumed, like most non-elite/non-serious runners that 9.9 miles and 10 miles are close enough.

Alan, substitute Jim Kaiser's name for mine in your narration and you've got it right. Jim was the original measurer. I was the validator who came in last Aug to check course accuracy.
