Hey guys,
ok the title is a bit exaggerated, but it's kind of what I'm trying to do and I need your advice.
First some info about me. I'm 27 years old, 6'1, 170lbs and am only running regularly since August '16 and have never really played any sport. I'm currently running around 30 miles a week and my paces are well within the beginner range (I think the fastest I could run a 10k right now would be slightly below 50min).
I realize that a sub 3h marathon is not going to happen any time soon (is it even possible given I have never done any sport?) but I basically want to get faster as quickly as possible. I'm willing to put in the time and effort, but I don't know how to go about this. I read the Pfitzinger book and know the benefits of different types of workouts etc. I'm going to run a HM in late May and want to break 1:45h with a plan from the Pfitzinger book and go from there (the plan builds up to ~47mi/week).
How would you proceed after the HM in may? Just build up the weekly mileage with easy paced runs? Keep doing races and build up using training plans from the book? Run another HM in the fall? Run a marathon in fall? Any input appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
