Nobody has mentioned Pauly Shore - he was dreadfully unfunny even at the height of his career in the mid-90s.
Stephen Colbert is also quite awful - he may be good at satire, but he isn't the type of comedian who tells funny jokes. I tried watching his old Comedy Central show and it was so boring and painfully unfunny that I had to change the channel

10/10
9.9/10 (not 10 because anger management was kinda good)

couldn't agree more. I have tried several times to finish a single episode of that horrible show, but to no avail. And I fit the target profile very well, very nerdy, have a phd in engineering, work in hi tech at the moment in a company with more than 80% males.....
I just don't get:
Kathy Griffin
Tom Greene

I love it when people say "Oh you have to be smart to get it." I guess my 3 AA's don't mean anything then.

I am solidly convinced that people with a legitimate career in STEM do not find that show funny. I swear the people that watch it only want to feel like they are nerdier/smarter.

The vast majority of stand-up comics are bad, but in a harmless, merely unfunny way.
Of the truly cringeworthy, the worst was that woop-bing slapstick facemaker, Jim Carrey. Next worst was gibberish-talking Robin Williams.
You can't call Seinfeld painfully bad. He at least had stage presence and made some effort to deliver his material well. Williams' gimmick was bad delivery and Carrey's was making silly faces, worthy of only eggs and tomatoes.
Chris Rock, sorry doesn't do it for me

It's confusing when you actually make sense. Who are you, exactly?
Seinfeld is one of the greats. The thing about stand-up is that it doesn't age well. Have you ever gone a listened to Bill Cosby's stuff? He's legendary, but his jokes are mediocre today. New ideas quickly become old ideas in comedy.
But you have to admit these are damn funny jokes:
I once had a leather jacket that got ruined in the rain. Why does moisture ruin leather? Aren't cows outside a lot of the time? When it's raining, do cows go up to the farmhouse, "Let us in! We're all wearing leather! Open the door! We're going to ruin the whole outfit here!" â€â€™This is suede?’ â€â€™I am suede! The whole thing is suede! I can’t have this cleaned; it’s all I got!â€â€™
What is a date really, but a job interview that lasts all night? The only difference is that in not many job interviews is there a chance you'll wind up naked.
You know you're getting old when you get that one candle on the cake. It's like, "See if you can blow this out."
That's the true spirit of Christmas; people being helped by people other than me.
And then there's these, which were funny at the time, but have aged poorly:
It's amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper.
My parents didn't want to move to Florida, but they turned sixty and that's the law.
Now they show you how detergents take out bloodstains, a pretty violent image there. I think if you've got a T-shirt with a bloodstain all over it, maybe laundry isn't your biggest problem.Maybe you should get rid of the body before you do the wash.
Chris Rock is one of the best

Louis used to be kinda funny but he's getting too used to being famous and is getting quite preachy as of late... and that is NOT funny.
Louis CK, George Carlin, and Dennis Miller were all fantastic until they hit superstar level, then their stand-up routines became far too preachy and focused on political/social justice rants. Those may, on occasion, be interesting, but they are almost never actually funny.
Carrot Top, Gallagher, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler - never have been funny except by accident.

I'm online quite regularly and use all the various forms of social media, and I don't ever recall seeing anything like that.
I see it all over facebook. It's pretty annoying. I think it sort of depends on the type of people you follow and what they share. Facebook is creepy like that. Kudos to you for managing to avoid it all.

I think any show that comes with a laugh track is garbage. I just can't handle it.
Robin Williams's "gimmick" was that he was endlessly creative and strange, not that he talked gibberish.

Wait, you said popular? I retract my answer.
Bang on, both are terrible but neither are popular.
What is your definition of popular? Schumer has a top rated tv show, sells out her comedy tours and has a top selling book out for which she received an 8million dollar advance.
She made 17million in 2016 and was the fourth highest grossing comic in the world in 2016.
No matter if you like her or not, she is definitely popular.

Robin Williams "gimmick" was that he was high on coke as was most of his audience back in the 70s when he got started in standup. He was quick-witted and had a stream of consciousness schtick that was creative but he stole jokes, but not as bad as Denis Leary who stole another guys whole act and mannerisms.
