If you're not getting injured, don't change your stride. Short and choppy can be efficient. It gets longer when you run faster.

I was working on improving my stride rate from like 155 to 180. Ended up getting myself hurt in the process. Perhaps i was trying to change my stride too soon. At this point i try to keep my easy are averaging about 165/170 and I'm fine with that. I believe running at certain paces dictate stride rate anyways. The faster I run the more my cadence increases, tempo pace and faster my cadence is over 180. My advice to you is to work on playing with your cadence very cautiously. If you can, run bare foot on some soft grass for a 100m strides.
is that a joke? you are working on your stride rate?
I'm working on my stride length

That's what hobby joggers do.
