james augustine: 9 minutes, 5 fouls. ticky-tack bullshit on the refs part. changed the face of the game. other than that, well played, on both parts. illinois was very impressive coming back from 15 down. that game was incredible.
i love college basketball, however, and roy williams deserves it.
Sean May is a beast. He should win the Wooden award.
what a rough game...UNC won it outright, Illini just were not hitting the shots. Auggie had all tic tac fouls, those calls did indeed change the tactics of the game...Not much else you can say...campus was a party despite the loss...Gullys was fun - nice happy drunk greek folk - where did everyone else wind up going?
Hey, I was cheering for the Illini as a Big Ten alum, but regardless of the foul trouble, there was NO WAY Augustine was going to stop May. And Ingram stepped in and hit some big shots. May was just too strong inside, and the Illini missed their three opportunities down the stretch. Hell of a game, though.
It was a great game. Were the fouls on Augustine tick-tacky?, probably but that's what happens when a big man doesn't move his feet. He was gettign fouls called on him because he was slow to the spots and just throwing his upper body around. The scary thing is that it sounds like May will be back next year.
4-0 vs. Big 10? How so? 3-0 in the tournament, 2-0 during regular season.
they finished with wisc, michst, and illinois. it coulda been 4 had minn. won their first round. instead they played iowa st.
11/24/2004 - Defeated Iowa in Hawaii 106-92
12/1/2004 - Defeated Indiana @ Bloomington 70-63
3/27/2005 - Defeated Wisconsin @ Syracuse 88-82
4/2/2005 - Defeated Michigan State @ St. Louis 87-71
4/4/2005 - Defeated Illinois @ St. Louis 75-70
That makes the Tar Heels 5-0 vs. the Big 10 for the 2004/2005 campaign.
Go Heels!
I was just glad the 2 best teams throughout the year made it to the final. I was pulling for the Illini just so they would get some respect, and Weber is such a classy guy. It was nice to see Roy finally win the big one tho. Great tournament!
Wisconsin hung with them thru the entire second half despite the astronomical talent difference. Give Bo Ryan the UNC players and Roy the Wisconsin players and Bo would pummel Roy's team by 20+ points.
Deano, what the hell is your point? My suspicion is that the original poster didn't realize that Iowa State is not in the Big 10. I know that ESPN only concentrates on the ACC and Big East, but put some effort into it.
Kevin,my point is that that the original poster noted a 4-0 record for the Heels vs. the Big 10 this season...it was actually 5-0 against the Big 10. And yes, Iowa State is in the Big 12.
