My IT's started hurting me March 9 which is about 2 weeks after I got back from a foot injury that took me out for a month. I came back ran low (3-4) mileage, (but at a fast pace...for me (6:45-7:10 range) and about 10-20 50m strides after the runs and then March 7 I upped my mileage to 8 miles (7:20 per mile) for the day and I did 8 miles (7:15 per mile) the next day. March 9 after doing strides from a 4 mile day (about 6:35 per mile), I noticed my knee started hurting. I figured it was my knee bugging me with Platelle tendonitis so I threw on my knee strap that night and it was still bugging me. The next day I noticed that the pain was similar to the IT pain I had last year. It didn't phase me so I kept on running through it because I wanted to run Sub 5 in the mile this year. IT's got worst and I lowered my mileage to around 2-3 at around 7:30 per mile. I finally took off March 16 when I woke up and couldn't bend my knee without some serious pain. Spent the time stretching, massaging, icing, working the foam roller, and biking up to now. I just started running again after buying a Pat-Strap and my IT is still bugging me. I run in Adistar Control and have orthotics and take ibuprofin. Is there anything else I can do to lessen the pain? I really want to run a race and I haven't ran indoor season and the first outdoor meet is April 12th. This is my senior year in high school and I really want to get that sub 5. Any help/advice is appreciated. Please note that help/advice doesn't concern spelling/grammar issues. I know I can't spell and want to tackle this IT probelm first.
