So I will be retiring this year and will lose the company vehicle (SUV) I drive. I've always been a sports car guy wannabe and had a couple of cheaper ones in my youth. I like driving and it's not purely about what makes financial sense. A curvy mountain road is where it's at for moi.
That said, I was thinking about the new Mazda RF or the updated Toyota 86. Thinking of new because it may will be the last car I own and I want something reliable to take on x/c trips. Leaning towards the Mazda because of the fun-to-drive quotient although I haven't had the chance to test drive it yet. Had an MR2 many years ago which needed a few more horses that the Mazda now has.
Have also thought about some other used sports cars, could afford a Porsche but don't want the higher maintenance costs. Even a 2016 Mazda would be in play, will likely be spring before I decide. Wife has a Cooper which is okay but not as responsive as I'd like or fun to drive as I'd like and the styling isn't anything exciting.
Sounds like the Mazda to me...also thinking it would be fun to go to a driving school and become a better driver. Heard there is an opening on the Mercedes F1 team.
