Wow, no one had them in the top 3 much less WINNING the race. After an 8th place finish last year and being the first Montana team to finish, amazing race by them.

I mean 105 to American Forks 141, that's a good gap.
The announcers said American Fork went 1,2,3.
Not true. They went 1,4,7.
You have to feel for the Brentwood 5th guy.
The team score is 163 and he was 111 of it.
Bozeman 8,19,22,24,32=132
AF 1,4,7,58,71=141
Brentwood 2,13,17,20,111=163
no bozeman finished with 105 points. Their team doesn't look very deep, but noone of their times are that impressive to be number 1 in the nation, wonder what the JV kids are capable of
Brentwood's #5 feels like carp. Imagine being single-handedly responsible for 68% of your team score.

Without that 5th man Brentwood is not in the meet as a team

I think Brentwood's 5 is just fine. He has been racing just as good the whole season, it's not like he had a particularly bad race. You can't really pin everything on a 5th guy, there's only so much faster you can get and he's made quite a jump this year enough as it is. All of Brentwood's top 4 did exactly how they've been doing all season and so did their #5.
Bozeman got it right at the right time. They've been saying all season that the program was only going to peak at NXN. Impressive to execute it so well, because that is easier said than done. The girls also had their best finish ever (8th), and both the boys and girls have qualified two years in a row (the girls also made it in '10 and '13). Good stuff all around... just building and building over the years.

True, they had an undefeated season, but they never faced the top teams till nationals

Something like $500/month per runner. Same guy also coaches other good runners in the area. With that amount of buy-in, they'd better get results.
