I want to be on my team's 4x8 relay in the spring and that will probably take at least 2:00. I'm a junior with PRs of 2:08 in the 800, 55.7 in the 400, 4:53 in the 1600, and 17:30 in the 5k set this season, on 40-50mpw in the summer. I ran 30 mpw this winter, and just bumped up to 40-50 in the summer, with 12 mi long runs.
I'm planning on staying at ~50mpw this winter and working to get a lot stronger because the aerobic and power side of things I'm lacking. I'm terrible at hills. I'll hit the weight room on hard days and do plyometrics, squats, maybe cleans, and all that. Hill sprints on a 120m small hill, and longer repeats on a 800m loop with a big hill in the middle. Throw in some tempo runs, keep the long run. Anything I'm missing or should change to hit my goal? Is it likely that I can break 2?
