Obama's fault to be sure.

The idiot who pushed the kid down said the kid was running towards his car and not responding to verbal commands to get out of the road. (He didn't respond because he is nearly non-verbal.) My first thought was, "good thing he wasn't running toward a cop."
At the very least (if the justice system won't do anything) the mother needs to retain a lawyer and sue that idiot.
He wasn't a "cross-country runner on course". He was a 15 year old black person. You got that part correct.

What does race have to do with this situation?
Racism no longer exists in America except as a leftist political tool. Therefore, we can just chalk this up as an innocent misunderstanding. Feel bad for the kid, but what else can you expect? The man's wife could have been in great danger. You never know who might possess Luke Cage-like strength, and if this runner had ripped the door off of the car and mugged the guy's wife in broad daylight, he'd never have been able to live with himself. This is really the fault of the school administration. We should provide the autistic child's mom with a voucher so that she can send her son to a charter school that doesn't run races in places where people are terrified of high school runners.
That man needs to go to jail, no one should be allowed to attack a kid who is participating in a high school sport, especially a handicapped kid.
Wrong is wrong.
This is a slam dunk wrong.

From the OP's article:
" When Chase turned 13, Coleman threw him a “bro mitzvah.â€
Talk about racist.

Did he have prior knowledge that the kid was handicapped? Is it obvious that someone who is able to run has a handicap?

Tells me the kid should not have been there in the first place. This is a symptom of letting everybody participate. I can see the school getting sued for not having proper supervision for disabled kids participating in sports.
Is that Justyn Knight?
This is a sad incident. The poor kid is hardly able to function and had found something that he liked and that helped include him in a supportive group and now after being attacked for no reason whatsoever has quit the team and become even more isolated in his life.
Not everyone should be on team wrote:

My friend's kid has autism has gotten lost on a few courses his first year and is in the top 7 of his team this year. The problem is not with supervision, problem is with rules in races. The kid has a paid assistant that runs with him in practices, but that assistant is not allowed to run with them in races.
The parent's knows the risk and is at the meet and the coach's are prepared to send out the search party if he makes a wrong turn.
And I have seen kids not with autism get lost out on courses (one kid was a mile out on a wrong trail) and I have seen pros miss turns in major races. It happens, only issue here is the fact kid was non verbal and some dude overreacted and should be punished for causing harm.

Stop being dishonest. He was not attacked for "no reason whatsoever". It is sad, but life is not "fair" for socially handicapped people. There's only so much you can do.

You have a problem. Dishonest? He was running down the middle of a road during a xc race.
If this kid was on my team I'd beat the F outta the pusher. Seems like a 57 yr old would be an easy target if he's out pushing runners in a race.

Yes, you are being dishonest. You are the one with a problem not me. Just because someone has a justification that you don't support does not mean it doesn't exist. The guy may have overreacted but it certainly was not for "no reason whatsoever". You are a bigot.
The man needs to be sentenced to a Trial by Ordeal. If i was judge he would have to run in a local Cross country race of 5K. Finish under 20 minutes and he does no jail time. Over 20 minutes and it is 6 months in jail for assault.
