Yes, runners for whatever reason exhibit the most insecure behavior and intolerance of other sports. Hence the anti-swimming threads, the anti crossfit stuff, anti triathlon, anti anything that isn't running. There was even a recent anti tennis thread. I know, I have been there and used to think the same.
Now as an ex runner (who reads these boards for the morbid entertainment value), I thoroughly enjoy playing tennis, swimming, weight lifting. I weigh about 15+ pounds more, look better, feel better, and quite frankly don't miss a lot of things about running and training obsessively. Lets face it, many runners have pathologic or odd personalities and for whatever reason think that every other sport pales in comparison ("My sport is the punishment for yours," bumper sticker attitude).
So before you go dissing all these other sports, try them first.(you might like them!) For instance, there is a lot more to tennis once you play it and practice it at a decent level and can understand what separates the better players, etc.
