There is a reason why SRY screening was eliminated. You can debate if those reasons were good or bad.

Idiot. No one but a few crazy lrc'ers dispute that Caster is XY. The full report of the sex test is of course not publicly available. But most of it was leaked after in 2009. Google Semenya XY and you'll find enough info to bust your loony conspiracy theory.

SRY screening isn't used because a female category based on genetics isn't popular with the current gender agenda.

In a way that is what happened to Pamela Jelimo. She won the Diamond League, $1 million and the gold in 800m in Beijing. There was no incentive for left for her to compete - $1 million is a fair amount of money, especially in Kenya.

Jelimo made a semi-successful (by her previous standards) comeback after her injury, was 4th at 800m in 2012 behind Semenya and the Russian (dopers?) and won an indoor title. After that there has been little mention of her in 800m events.

Perhaps a fully fit Jelimo competing now would have pushed Caster Semenya to an all out 800m.

But I think this is one of the most disgustingly mishandled situations in modern sport. Put yourself in her shoes. Listen to what her mother and grandmother have to say. None of this is HER fault. Yes this is not a good situation but calling her 'he' does absolutely nothing to solve it. There is a very simple solution to all of this - reinstate the testosterone medication which brings intersex athletes into the female range. That's not particularly PC though so for now it looks like we can enjoy watching someone utterly dominate their event and hopefully crack the doped-up 1:53 WR.

Yeah. Require young athletes to take meds to be able to compete. Genius!

Limit the female category to presence/absence of the SRY-gene. That will solve ALL problem.

I'm not a doctor, but wouldn't it be healthier to remove the source of the extra testosterone rather than taking medication to suppress it? This is a true health issue. Internal testes are normally removed because of an increased cancer risk.

I think the issue at hand would be the cost of surgery vs. medication. There's a reason many trans men and women elect to not get gender reassignment surgery and often it comes down to cost, now Semenya is not trans but this would be a similar issue. There would likely be a long recovery period as well in which she'd likely sacrifice a fair amount of prize money.
