I love Terry Hershey. Nice path along Buffalo Bayou west that has some gentle hills (for flatland Houston standards) and it is long.
That being said, you want to live in town. Rice Military, Heights, Midtown, etc. Just like people said.
If midtown you can hit the bayou at Eleanor Tinsley and run up and down the hills all the way to Memorial (flat). Great training ground.
As for Houston in general - the reason people move there is because it is flowing in cash. Houstonians laugh at the crap economies of the other cities.
The weather? Mild winters are great for year round training. Summer is tough, but research shows that heat-humidity training has some similar effects to that of altitude. It is only about 2-3 months of the year. The rest is ideal and, honestly, you are totally fine if you run before 8 am or after 6 pm (but only do evening runs around 6ish once you've acclimated.)
