He posted a workout on his sweat account today.
1200TT 2:50.6 with a 54.8 last lap.
Full recovery
400 controlled in 56.6
600 controlled in 1:24.5
This guy is looking better than ever! Will definitely be rooting for him at the trials.
No one is selected for the team on their time trial or workout.

Did I say he was a lock? No. I said I'd be rooting for him. Moran

No chance dude is a Merber.....Leaves his races in workouts.
If there's anyone in track and field who does not leave their races in workouts, it's Kyle Merber.
He's looking great as of the past few weeks (after looking like he may not even make it to the starting line). He's a great runner, I believe he has the 4th fastest qualifying time going in, he has a great kick, and he has just as good of a shot as anyone if he's having a good day.
Nothing is a guarantee and it's a tough field as always, but I'm rooting for him.

Perhaps that´s why he´s faster than you. He´s not being lazy on the track.

Ad hominem.
xfp['s point still stands.
But was it controlled???
What's a moran? I'll take a leep, and assume you weren't one of his teammates at Columbia.

That was part of Kiprop's workout. A 5 x 1200m workout.

So you're saying he is lazy in training?

Uhhh Kiprop split 2:45 for 1200 when he ran 3:26 last year. Wouldn't call his 2:47 in a workout a time trial if he splits 1200 faster in his PR 1500. Also his 1500 is 7.85 seconds faster than Merber's, not 9 seconds (3:26.69 to 3:34.54)...that's more of a difference in a 1500 than you might think.
I saw A lot of our best in person at their peak, and this is a solid workout, nothing spectacular for 3:30-high guys. I don't think this workout translates to 3:30-low...
Merb seems like a great dude, and I hope he makes the team. And I hope he pops a 3:33 and comes here and crows...
As for the 2:47 - at 7300 feet - that is just insane.
how fast will the trials final be?
how fast will the semis be?
Trial round will be a joke. Jog for 3 laps and kick 300. Maybe last heat will go fast with all time qualifiers from that one in about 3:40.
Semis tactical again, with 3:40 heat one and 3:38 FTW in heat two, time qualifiers from that heat.
Final I predict 3:37 maybe 3:35 if centro healthy

Please Kiprop is running a 2:47 1200m at altitude as part of a workout
Oh, I didn't realize that Kiprop would be running at the US Olympic Trials. This is news to me.
Even though I don't actually think John Kellogg is a good coach at all, he claims that a 2:50 is worth a 3:37 1500m, which sounds about right and wouldn't be anything terribly special. Personally, i would put it closer to 3:38 or 3:39.
However, in the context of Merber's come back from injury, I think it gives him a good shot. Who knows if he will take the necessary step forward from this to 3:34-5 range. Plus, he hasn't done any strength work recently. Considering the trials is 3 x 1500m, he will need to have good endurance to contend well over the distance in the final.
Kyle Merber, whether he makes the team or not, has absolutely come waaaaaay back from total deadness just a couple months back. Kid gets in shape faster than Little Willy Netherhill on a hot summer day in Loosiana.
