Any words on SV's recruiting class?
Any words on SV's recruiting class?
Their roster also is updated on their website. Looks like they brought in a decent distance guy and a few middle distance runners. Not the big, impressive class of last season but they brought in some good talent. Last year's class I think is going to give them decent depth for the next 2-3 years. Should be a good year for them.
Solid roster for SV. Should be a good battle between them and Walsh for 2nd in the GLIAC. GV's recruiting class is crazy, three sub-9:20 guys. Their 8-14 guys would probably place 3rd or 4th in the conference and have an outside shot at a national slot.
1. GVSU
2-3. SVSU / Walsh
4-7. Hillsdale / Mich Tech / Ashland / Ferris St.
8-10. Lake Erie / Findlay / Lake Superior
11-14. ODU / Northwood / Wayne St. / Tiffin
Top-ten indiv. in no particular order should be Ngandu, Panning, Hall, May, Bradley, Mach, Southgate, Njeraeky, Hadley, Wondal.

Who is racing this weekend?
Without looking it up I'm sure most of the Michigan GLIAC schools plus Ashland will be at MSU. USI as well. Walsh and Lewis at Notre Dame. Should be a good week for racing.
Thoughts on MSU?
GVSU looked really good with Panning winning and all 5 scorers in the top 20. Hillsdale impressed as well by beating SIU and SVSU. Ashland and Malone seem to be lacking the front runners, they may be in trouble come regionals and you wonder if Malone will even win their conference this year. Elsewhere Walsh lost by a point to Bellarmine at Notre Dame. Based on this week looking at GLIAC I'd say it looks something like this
1. GVSU
2. Hillsdale
3. Walsh
4. SVSU
5. Ashland
Good break down. Hillsdale looks good. If SVSU continues to RS Goforth then Hillsdale may very well be #2 in the GLIAC. GVSU also ran Chris May unattached. They would still be a big favorite at conferences and regionals but that would probably affect their place at nationals. Walsh ran well. Ashland and Ferris St have work to do. Early season though.
Regional rankings came out today and had Hillsdale at second, which is laughable. Once Goforth is in uniform SVSU will destroy them by at least 30 points. Walsh has the same team they had last year when they were much better than Hillsdale, plus they added Mark Hadley who could contend with Ngandu and Panning for the conference title. Parkside is also going to be very good this year. Hillsdale had a nice result at Spartan, but they better enjoy this while it lasts because come October and November they won't be able to hang.
GLIAC: 1) GVSU
2) SVSU
3) Walsh
Regionals: 1) GVSU
2) Parkside
3) SVSU
4) USI
5) Walsh
I do not comprehend how the Midwest ranking coach ranked Parkside 7th?
Midwest Regional
1) GVSU (GLIAC)
2) Parkside (GLVC)
3) Saginaw (GLIAC)
4) Hillsdale (GLIAC)
5) Walsh(GLIAC)
Tom Goforth is academically ineligible for this semester and will not be allowed to compete in uniform.
a reminder that the national polls are meant to reflect the current climate...not what it is projected to be in November. Right now, Hillsdale would be the 2nd best team in the region. As for November? We will just have to wait and see.
To be fair, Tom Goforth hasn't been to practice in weeks due to his TE100 class observation hours that have placed him at White Pine Middle School. Technically.
wait, classes have started?????
All-Ohio championships today, Greater Louisville Classic tomorrow. Should be a good weekend for racing.
Four GLIAC runners placed in the top 10 with James Ngandu winning in 24:49, Hadley(Walsh) was 3rd, Hall(Ashland) 6th, and Njerakey(Walsh) 9th. Walsh won the D2 race with 44pts, Ashland was 2nd and Malone 4th. Walsh seems to have a scary 1-2 punch, its now a matter of what their 3-5 can do. Ashland seems to have Hall back in form but their 4 and 5 look lackluster at best, they still need to improve a lot if they wanna have a shot at making it out. Is Malone holding out runners?? They looked bad, not a single runner under 26 minutes.
GVSU wins Gold and Blue races in Louisville. Zach Panning 4th in 23:43. Chris May also runs very well, 24:09. SVSU puts Goforth, Anderson and Eisengruber in jerset but finishes behind Hillsdale. Wondaal looking very good so far this season.
Good result for Walsh. Their top 2 look strong but 3-5 need to close that gap.
The course took on a lot of rain between the womens and mens championship race. So it was a bit muddy on the back stretch. This could explain some of the slower times that you saw.
The race for 2nd in the GLIAC looks to be interesting as Hillsdale, SVSU and Walsh all seem to be neck and neck, its gonna come down to who has it on that day. Regionals is shaping up to be the same as SIU and Parkside haven't separated themselves from those three GLIAC teams. Needless to say they all have what it takes to make it out but somebody is gonna go home heartbroken.
