You clearly didn't watch the game if you don't think any defense was being played. Gordon Hayward had the honor of guarding Kobe and he went hard in the paint. It was definitely a pride thing... He was glistening from all the sweat.
More so, 44% is the league average for shooting (and has been for the last 15 years). So, yeah...
