Not sure if Kobe's will ever be broken.

He missed a lot last night. Missing 15 out of 21 3pt shots is just plain awful.
A better doped runner can take down Paula's record. Hard to imagine a career as long as Kobe's with so much Klanking. GOAT for missed shots.

Are the Lakers the worst team in the league? Legendary Bryant leading certainly the worst modern Lakers suddenly has a single amazing game.
Whoop. Dee. Doo.
lebron should break the missed shots record in about 6 seasons
Lebron is 4709 behind the great Klanker. At his career average of 751 missed shots per year, he would break the record in 6.27 years. While Lebron already has more career assists and rebounds, it would take him 3.2 years to score more points. If Lebron is able to play another 6 years at his average production, he would be the leading scorer, 6th all-time in assists, and 40th in rebounds. He would still only be 38 years old. Compare those stats to Kareem who is 1st in scoring, 4th in rebounds, and 40th in assists. Kareem played until he was almost 42. If Lebron stays productive until he is 40, he could end up with 40,000 pts, 11,000 rebounds, and 10,700 assists.

Lots of negativity in the post. Not to mention a poor use of statistics. Even with those misses, he still shot well overall at 44%. He shot 22-35 (63%) 2pt shots. He also assisted or scored the last 19 points in a large comeback win. Amazing, fun and clutch ending to great career.

Hi Mr Delusional
44% is not well except for an overrated gunner who has been shooting 35%
Bryant rarely shot better than his team average over 19 years. In other words, every time he took a shot, he was hurting his team as there were other players who could score more efficiently. As far as assists, most of Bryants have come when he tried everything he could to chuck up a shot but was guarded so closely he reluctantly passed to a teammate who scored.

Especially when no actual defense was being played against him. He should have been able to make 60%, but could only manage 44%.

I hate Kobe Klanker but this is not fair.

They sent the Washington Generals out on the court with Utah Jazz masks on.

Did he win his final game? Did he score more points than anybody all year? Seems like a good job!

Hi Mr Dummy,
Several of Dennis Rodman's seasons, he shot between 56-59% from the field. This means that during those seasons, rarely was there a teammate on the floor with with a higher FG % than him. Based on your stupendous use of logic, any time Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Lambier, Adrian Dantley, Vinnie Johnson, etc took a shot instead of Rodman, they were 'hurting their team.'
Bravo, the synapses in your brain misfire more than Kobe has, by far.
Paula's.
Kobe's is an unreal record. Melo won't play long enough to break it.
Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor played 4 years of college ball. LBJ (and K Durant, for that matter) has a 4-year headstart. If Alcindor/Jabbar had gone pro straight out of HS, he almost certainly would have finished with over 40k career points.

Actually Jabbar only played 3 years of college varsity. He wasn't even allowed to play varsity his freshman year!!
If Lebron can play productively until he is 42, he will obliterate the scoring record. Of course we know how many players have been on pace to break the home run record only to be hampered by injuries (Griffey) or injuries and peds (Arod)
Actually it is impossible to compare stats between eras because the game changes so much. When Oscar was putting up triple doubles, teams averaged close to 100 shots per game and shot a much lower %. Now teams shoot around 80 shots per game and make a higher %. Nobody is going to get 20,000 rebounds like Wilt and Russell did. On the other hand, 3 point records are being broken all the time.

Nope. Rodman should have been shooting EVERY TIME if he was able to maintain that 56-59% level. If he fell below one of the other players on the court, then they should be the one taking all the shots. I'm guessing you never actually played basketball.
No, you clearly are the one who has never played basketball. The only reason why Rodman shot a high % is because the other players commanded attention and created Rodman's scoring opportunities.
DeAndre Jordan leads the league in FG% every season. He is regarded as one of the worst offensive players in the league.
His offense is so bad, that he only takes dunks & lay ups after CP3 breaks the defense down. If they gave the ball to DeAndre to ISO 12 ft out from the basket, his FG % would be 0%.
Anyway, now that we have established that LBJ will obliterate the missed shots record and -- LBJ avg 19.7 shots per game for his career compared to Kobe' 19.5 shots per game, why is this still a thread?
Scorers miss shots.
Longevity is an issue.
Lebron and melo are about the same pace of missed shots. But both would have to play 6-7 more full seasons to break the record. I don't think they will be able to do that.
Even if they do it's still 6-7 more years before its done and I think the record will be broken by then.
Even if they stay healthy I don't think they will keep this pace up as their skill declines.

couldn't we expect their pace to increase as their skill declines?
