That's very interesting. Those people look like they are moving pretty good, but he goes by them like they are at a stand still.
Amazing video. Who was the runner who caught this? What pace was he going at when Kamwowor passed him as if he was standing still? What a flowing stride.
As the prior poster said, some of the guys there are good runners. But the difference in stride is incredible. You don't realize this when you see the elites running next to each other. They all look great, but we don't realize how great.
Probably something to do with the fact he is the best half marathoner in the world.
well Kamworor ran the whole thing at over 13mph, it is fair to assume he will have been going faster than that with all the adrenaline pumping through him.
Many a good half marathon runner will look slow when someone comes past at ~15mph!
It is kind of humorous that it looks fast but is only fast in the context of the event itself.
Why does he have such a hobby jogger race number?

My guess is this guy
107 Oliver Williams 109 MS 1:15:43 1:15:39
1:15 is solid! Great run. Thanks for sharing this cool snippet.
The camera suggests that some core work and form changes could help hold the torso and head more still.
You can also see Kamworor weaving like a mad man from this overhead view
https://youtu.be/2naortKYfsI?t=19m15s
He emerges on the left hand barrier right around 19:22
And then again starting around 19:40 (only 40 seconds into the race) you can see him in the background on the left hand side chasing down the leaders

Nice find. Thank you.

Yes, indeed.
This also reminds me of Bekele's 2008 World XC race. One of his shoes came of 6min into 12k race and he stopped to put the shoe back on:
https://youtu.be/IVyA-Nk_S20?t=8m54sThis was even in a much shorter (and faster) race than a half marathon, but watch how Bekele flew by the other runners here, while doing catch up:
https://youtu.be/IVyA-Nk_S20?t=10m14sSweet. Now Ventolin^3 can use the footage to calculate exactly how much energy Kamworor used to pick himself up. Basic Physics! That, and he can see when he had to stutter-step and weave around people. Lucky for us, ventolin^3 knows the exact formula for the energy expenditure of stutter-stepping.
~56'48" !!
Once you see him at 19:22, rewinding a few seconds you can see him angling through the crowd from the middle towards the left side. Incredible. All I can think is that his rocket start at WC XC helped harden him to the immediate fatigue of this.

Your comment suggests that you are a moran.
my personal ventolin estimate says that considering the conditions and the fall........this race by Kam probably was a world record 1/2M equivalent race!....Wow!...
You can also see him coming up in the distance off Tola's left shoulder around 19:40
https://youtu.be/2naortKYfsI?t=19m40s
Then from the overhead shot at 20:20, you can see him just at the tail of the lead group wearing those white shoes. He finally caught up about 20:30
https://youtu.be/2naortKYfsI?t=20m20s
With the gun going off at 19:00, so he caught up with the leader within 90sec?? What pace is that accounting for him being down for 10secs? Must have been an incredible pace.

Berkele is passing these guys gradually (but he's passing Motram and company)
Kamworor is really passing these "good" runners (say 1:10 to 1:15 half marathon) as though they are standing still.
Later on he passes world class runners too (such as Farah...), but gradually...

...right left... left right left... right.
I love how Paula and the announcer are talking for a minute about how difficult it will be for Geoffrey to come back while he's already been back in the lead pack the whole time.
What a beast he is.
