Nothing like a little advance publicity from USATF - literally, nothing. Are we sending a team? Who's on it? Are the athletes sworn to secrecy about their participation - seems so?

Bump for those who didn't "work" a night shift.
I completely agree. I went on usatf.org the other day trying to figure out who was on the team, and was shocked to find NOTHING. Like this is a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and our national governing body isn't even saying who they are sending... Do they athletes even know yet???
I know Jim Spisak of the NE Distance project is on Team USA, which I found out via NE Distance's facebook page.

Just kidding...
More Nike money = less administrative competence.
It's everybody who didn't run or finish the Trials and didn't run NYC.
Is it really not known right now?
(Not that top guys like Ritz and Rupp care about representing the country.)
USATF keeps getting lawsuits for bungling selections to national teams.
They've circled the wagons and figured that if they don't announce the teams, then someone who was left off or not considered due to USATF's incompetency has no time to protest and hire a lawyer.
New qualifications requirements:
"Athletes who wish to be considered for selection to the U.S. Team to the 2016 IAAF World Half-Marathon, must submit qualifying performances to
."
And a little covering of the ass:
"Involuntary Withdrawal. An Athlete who is named to the team by virtue of an error or oversight (by USATF) may be removed from the team at any time."
Instead of being a better NGB with all of Nike's $$, USATF has become a more incompetent and insular organization.
Here is the hold up
Galen Rupp has declared and undeclared 3 times.
Don't believe me then ask Ed Torres.
The alternate has been asked to just wait.
From my math, this would be the list of qualifiers to choose from.
I'm guessing the fifth pick is Adrian Nelson with her 1:12:08 if all those in front have declined or missed declaration deadlines.
But who knows.....
1:09:50 Maegan Krifchin
1:09:58 Neely Spence
1:10:07 Sara Hall - Time #1
1:10:21 Molly (1:06:26 20k #1)
1:10:31 Ali Williams
1:10:59 Kellyn Taylor - Time #2
1:11:10 Kara Goucher
1:11:25 Janet (1:07:26 20k #2) - 20k Selection
1:11:27 Brianne (1:07:28 20k) - Time #3
1:12:08 Adriana (San Jose)
1:12:23 Rachel Ward
1:12:36 Mattie Suver
1:12:42 Shalane Flanagan
1:12:42 Amy Cragg
1:12:51 Andie Cozzarelli
1:13:05 Blake (1:09:00 20k)

There should be no hold up:
The remaining four (4) positions, or five (5) should there not be a selectee from the process listed above, will be selected based on rank order from the combination of half-marathon and 20 km performances, as determined by use of the “Mercier†lists, from USATF Certified races between September 7, 2015 and January 17, 2016. The deadline for selection, which will include the receipt of National Team paperwork, will be 5:00pm ET on Wednesday, January 20, 2016."
*** Should have been decided by January 20.***
Blank Roster page at 6:30 EDT today

Last one on the women's team is Hillary Montgomery. sub-72 from this year.
On February 13th Rupp was a YES
But said he would pull out if he made the World Indoor team.
He then said NO 2 weeks ago. Yes last week and No this week.
Calem Neff is in. Dude fresh off a Half Marathon WR.
If Brian Lawlor is on the team, will they allow him to run the course twice to get his 2:20?
Tim Ritchie: Next up is the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Wales on 3/26. This will be good chance to represent the old U.S.of A. along side 4 other men and 5 women who have made the team. Always a tough race (this year’s addition features Mo Farah and Geoffrey Kamworor), I am hoping to help the team finish as close to the top 3 as we can.
Also: "One of Ritchie’s Team USA teammates in Cardiff, Wales will be Jim Spisak of NE Distance. Lots of good stuff coming from the men and women in the New England area!"
Here it is...the full lineup per USATF staff member:
MEN'S TEAM:
Jared Ward
Ben Bruce
Tim Ritchie
Scott Bauhs
Jim Spisak
WOMEN'S TEAM:
Janet Bawcom
Sara Hall
Kellyn Taylor
Brianne Nelson
Hillary Montgomery
This is going to sound like a knock on him specifically, but it's not, because I like the dude in general. However, what the hell goes on in choosing these teams? I saw the earlier post about submitting to USATF for consideration, which is great, but social media has told me that Ben Bruce is fresh off a botched marathon attempt and then a period (sorry for the lack of specific length) of NO running. On Feb 28th he had an Instagram post of him beginning short runs. A month later he is gonna represent us at a World Champs? I guess I'm not saying I can blame the guy for taking an opportunity to represent but...is there 0% shame in running 69 minutes against the best in the world? Furthermore, don't we have any way to ensure we are sending a quality, fit team to compete?
