6. Thomas Pollard
7. Jim Eicken
Please fix this. There have been some corrections which have been ignored.
Coppess did win a state championship, but it was for the smallest school division and he ran a 10:19 2 mile on the same course that Mark Johnson ran low 9:30s.
Matt Gabrielson is not on the list of past winners, so double check his creds.
Moen was not a champion level runner in high school and did not break 16 until he was in college.
Consider some other runners from the 1970s, or runners that have done well at state and Footlocker/NTN.
Randy Jackson. Among top at AAU XC in 1975, a very deep year. 9:00 2 mile (8:57 3200)
Jon Mathiason. 2nd to Jackson at state in 1975, and ran 9:02 2 mile (8:59 3200)
Gregg Newell. 2nd to Johnson in 1971 XC (well ahead of Coppess time) and 4:12 mile on the track.
Go back to the 50s and early 60s and look at the Trimble family from Cedar Rapids. The brothers won a bunch of state championships.
