It was a good day for Americans at the IAU 50K World Championships in Doha.
Camille Herron was the women's winner in 3:20:58 and Tony Migliozzi was the men's winner in 2:52:08.
Camille averaged 6:28 per mile for the 31.075 miles and Tony averaged 5:32 per mile.
50k is only ~5 miles longer than a marathon. I would think any top marathoner could easily run a 50k sub 5 min pace (assuming a flat course), no? Not dissing the men's winner or anything, just curious. What kind of prize money do they offer?
a quick search tells me travel and room and board are supplied but can not readily find a prize money list.
Jaguar1 has racked up a pretty neat CV and honors won list but I doubt she has earned a real living wage from her exploits. Congratulations on following the dream Jag!!!

Their performances are on a level with 2:43 and 2:23 marathons.
Kid is a beast. Has run 5000 miles/year since 2011. That's how you get it done. Strong as an ox.

I was in the race (finished 24th, incredibly painful), that 2:52 is incredible. It was 80+ degrees, on slick polished bricks and marble with 3 hairpin turns per loop as well as a half mile hill. For reference, I've run 65:38/2:20 and 2:52 for a better course albeit on a 17 degree day and the heat destroyed me out here running 6 min miles painfully.

Four years 2012,13,14 and most of 15 is about 200 weeks or 25 miles a week.
5000 miles since 2011. Even more impressive is he is "Self coached" and he does NOT have a team to run with. This kid did it all by himself. Running 2:28 in college to 2:17. From having a hard time running faster than 25 minutes for an 8k to being able to qualify for the OT's. WOW all by himself too...
