No it can't.
Yes it can. Statistics are not proof. Do you not understand this?

What does whether or not he has done that matter?

It is very unlikely that thermoregulation to be the cause of African performance.
How many African migrated in other parts of the world, but their "advantage" didn't followed them?
Yes it did. More than 99% of the sub 10 second 100m runners ever are of west/central African origin, whether they be from US, Caribbean, Canada, Europe, or Africa (this has nothing to do with distance running or thermoregulation, but you said Africa).
Several of the top US and European distance runners are of North African origin.
99.93% of the people in the world are not Kalenjin, yet Kalenjin dominate distance running.
Statistics don't "prove" it (I teach statistics at a university), but the only rational explanation is genetic. Plenty of other people work hard and plenty of others dope. Plenty of people are raised at high altitudes (Bolivians don't dominate distance running). Kenyans aren't any more likely to grow up barefoot than are billions of others. The running 10k to school each day was mostly legend and certainly isn't true today.
Again, whole books have been written on this; I'm not saying anything new. Saying Kalenjin tend to be more suited to distance running isn't any more racist than saying Swedes tend to be taller than Filipinos. There are short Swedes and tall Filipinos, but overall Swedes tend to be taller.
Most Kalenjin are not world class runners. But of the few outliers on the planet who are world class distance runners, Kalenjin are way over represented. Isn't that wonderful? Can't we admire them? The runners who are successful have awesome natural talent and work really really hard.
It just baffles me why people are so resistant to acknowledge natural talent when it comes to distance running. Michael Jordan was a competitive SOB with a murderous desire to win. He also had awesome physical gifts of hops, agility, and huge hands. Nobody thinks that acknowledging his physical talent discredits his drive and discipline. Why do people have a problem acknowledging that some individuals, families, or larger groupings of related people could have more distance running talent than others?
