A terrific performance by Tim Ritchie. If I understand correctly, this ranks him 11th US male half-marathoner of all time. [In the list below I've mentioned each runner once, with their fastest time.]

a=slightly downhill
I forgot Rupp and Abdi ran an hour and a half on the NY course; those times would be close to an hour on the Houston course.
For Ritchie and the top-3 females, those are very good results for a course that's not that fast.
She's running the Big Sur Half-Marathon on November 8.

No they wouldn't. Downhill and with a tailwind. They shouldn't even be counted.
Those Hanson's can really coach. First Desi, then old Dot McMan, bow Neely. Great job!
She's been gone from Hansons for quite awhile and is now being coached by Steve Magness.

Downhill overall but lots of uphills on their lap of Central Park.
Does anyone have deeper results than ten, going down to, say, 1:06.

Yes, very nice kid, glad he got over his injuries. Thrilled for him.
I think he was like a 9:40/4:35 type in high school, but just kept working at it.

Perhaps net downhill, but a downhill does not compensate for an uphill and there are quite a few uphills on that course. Btw, some of the best runners in the world have run that course and the results don't bear out that it is not legit.
I think he was closer to 920 in HS but still- awesome to see him performing so well
Big fan of local guy, TR. This is phenomenal!
Just a word on the race...if you haven't done this one, do it. It's the best half in the country. SUPER fast course. Incredibly well organized. Tons of competition, so it's easy to find people you can run with if you want a pack. It's a must for any half marathoner.

Having run this race in 2011, 2013, 2014 and yesterday, I think it's really fast but I think Houston is faster still (haven't run it though). This year they changed the course a bit around miles 3-5 for the slower (very slightly) but the meat and potatoes of the course, the out and back along the river, was unchanged.
Weather was also quite good this year - maybe a little cold but I think it was high 30's for most of the elite men's race.
Old article but I wanted to find out who is Tim Ritchie,
"The Fastest Man In Boston (2013- 25th)
Boston College’s Tim Ritchie is making his marathon debut, and should be the first local to cross the finish line on Monday."
correct, it was a little cold at the start. i've never done houston, so i definitely can't compare. but i do know that this race attracts a ton of elites because it's such a fast course. and yes, they did change it a bit. there was one hairpin turn at the beginning, but overall the course hasn't changed much (as you said) from previous years. regardless, it was a fantastic race and i highly recommend.

Normally this race is in mid-late September, and I feel that it normally is way too hot. The pope came to town this year and pushed this race back to Oct. 31. The organizers need to think about making this a permanent change. Around Sept 20, when this race normally is, in philly is normally too hot. When Ryan Hall came to town in 2010 I cheered him on when it was unpleasantly hot to even be standing there about a mile from the finish.
This is a fast court in cool weather, btw. By comparison, the Philadelphia Marathon Half which takes place just before thanksgiving, is a fast course in itself, but even that is slower than this RnR Half, weather permitting. The weekend before Halloween would be perfect for this race. Gives you four weeks before the Philly Marathon.
i agree they should make it a permanent change. i much prefer colder weather. would also like it to be the weekend before halloween. makes much more sense.
