Ok so I am a Junior in high school, have been running xc and 1600 track since my freshman year, 16 years old 5'6" and 149 lbs. I have a question about the amount of food I am eating. Last year I ran some pretty amazing prs which I definitely haven't lived up to this season by around 2-3 minutes, and I was around 127-129 lbs that whole year. I haven't grown any since then either so all my weight that I've gained is pretty much fat and to be honest I'm not sure how so much got put on since I've been running pretty regularly year round and watching my eating.
My question:
Is it worth trying to cut back on food intake substantially to drop a few pounds for the end of this xc season and some major pounds for the track season, or would that actually screw me up considering I would have a lack of energy. I'm talking about around 1500-1600 calories a day, eating back the calories I burned running, so like 2100 on a day where I run 5 miles. Could anyone tell me what this would do to my body in terms of energy levels and about being able to train and race well while dieting like this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I didn't include my times in this first post (maybe will in a reply) because they aren't super impressive because I don't want people to think I'm trolling (which I truly am not).
