What makes you think Rupp didn't complete the 25 hours he needed for his degree between 2009 and now? Someone that close to finishing with a 3.8 GPA doesn't just quit. Use your brain.

Oregon should give their distinguished alums free degrees. Rupp as an Olympic Silver Medalist easily qualifies. No further questions. Rupp earned his degree the hardest way, by winning.

Do all of you people who attack Rupp's intelligence, appearance, etc. ever realize how pathetic that is? You spend time anonymously hating on some dude's appearance and academics. Do you really have nothing better to do than spew your hate all over the internet?
Next time post a photo of yourself and your undergraduate transcripts, tough guys.
Thanks- I'm so sick of people hating him.
Love the video. Hate the haters. Pathetic trolls they are, no matter what.
This commercial tells you all you need to know about the priorities of the Nike University of Oregon.

yes it does, and it also tells us all we need to know about the dyspeptic crowd that wishes they had thought of something like the video

no one cares. a bunch of nike owned univ of oregon peeps prancing around--weirdness. wearing bedsheets--bizarro-ness. spasticating on the floor--sadness. otis day lipsyncing--fakeness.
I liked the longer one that showed who everyone was. It's definitely geared for Oregon fans. A lot of the Oregon guys who weren't great in the NFL I didn't know.
Rupp's bio said 14 time All-American. I think it should have said "Olympic silver medallist"
He didn't win the silver medal at a UofO meet, so it doesn't count, right?
I thought the confident Mariota was Centrowitz...
Real Alumni wrote:
Only people who have a degree from an institution should claim they are an alumnus/alumna. Most people and companies take alumni to mean a true graduate, and not just someone who only took some courses.
The definition of alum (alumnus/alumna) was changed by some schools, but not all, to allow anyone who took a class to claim they are alum. The reason for the change was nothing more than schools looking for more money to fill their coffers.
The Nike commercial is unusual. It seems to be a mix of Oregon graduates, Oregon non-graduates, and Nike athletes, and other Nike people. The commercial is in support of Oregon football with Nike flavoring added for Nike marketing purposes.
Checking an English lexicon, it appears that an alumnus has been used to describe someone who merely was a student at a school since the 17th century. It's been in common coinage for over 300 years. Why do you think "most people" take it to mean only a graduate?
Which individuals in the commercial do you think weren't Oregon alumni/alumnae?
If you're going to take a poke at someone, you can at least do some basic research first.
Both White and Bair are graduates of Lakeridge High School, who along with Rupp and Eaton are native Oregonians and UO alumns. Would have been nice to see Elijah Greer, also a native Oregonian and graduate of Lake Oswego High School (same school district as Lakeridge) join the party.

Can a non-graduate be considered an real-alum? Rupp never graduated.
Didn't Kenny Wheaton draft as a junior? If Rupp didn't graduate, he's certainly not the only one in the video.

Most people and most linguists say it means to graduate from a particular college.

Ty Burrell (from Modern Family) featured prominently in the video and also did not graduate from UO.
a·lum·nus:a graduate or former student, especially male, of a particular school, college, or university.

Funny, as the box at the top includes former student in the definition.
I agree that most people think it refers only to graduates but then tons of people use words like "irregardless" and "orientate" as well.
If you want to know if Rupp graduated, just call the Oregon registrar's office. It is not private information. Is not covered under Buckley.

Even a former student at Princeton that didn't graduate can be considered an alumnus/alumna of Princeton.
The link above in an earlier post is a bluff. Click it, and the definition it provides also says "graduate or former student".
