I'm just wondering why Nick Simmons isn't running the last Diamond League meet in Brussels tomorrow. I thought will all his talk about being ready for Worlds but not allowed to run that he would jump on an opportunity like this to test his fitness and race some of the fastest guys in the world.
Why isn't Nick Simmons running the last DL?

I agree with your view.
He skipped the pre-World Euro season to focus on being ready for Worlds.
Then he doesn't run Worlds and still doesn't run the later races. -
Fishing is more important.

He is smart. He has been semi-injured, not ready to race, couldn't really race Worlds after he won USAs because of his injury there so decided to pull the "I won't wear Nike" card.
Brilliant. -
It definitely diminishes whatever personal sacrifice he was claiming. It seems like it was a rather easy choice for him.
He still made a valid point, but it would have been better if he showed any desire to race post-USATF. -
Seems like whatever deal he worked out with Brooks to stand against USATF/Nike and skip World's was lucrative enough to stay home and enjoy some R & R. I hope he did get paid for it. It's better for the sport to hear about that than to hear about another athlete getting dropped in a non-Olympic year.
That, or Run Gum is REALLY doing well... -
What has he done in 2014 & 2015 that would get him into a DL race?

Yes. If he came out and ran 1:43 low after Worlds his point would have been much stronger. -

well, he's Nick MF Symmonds. any race director in Europe would love to have him.
Nick admittedly gave up on racing this year before worlds once he lost his spot. he posted something on instagram or something about using his remaining fitness to help katie mackey in workouts, implying that he wouldn't be racing any more.
when you peak for USAs in 1:44 shape, racing a couple months later in europe is not a good idea. -
winning the us 800m title gets you into DL meets.

So every field has 8 Rudishas? Give me a break.
Still Symmonds act is wearing thin. What is Brooks paying for exactly?
I agree with the notion that he could be injured and is blowing a big smokescreen with the anti-establishmetarianism rather than just say he is injured, -

He's thinking of 2016 already. Going and running 1:43 or 1:44 in Europe isn't going to do anything for his upcoming season. -

I agree, if I was advising him, I would tell him after the world championships enter some races, run 1:42-1:43 in them and show what might have done in worlds, but instead he does nothing, he made a terrible mistake, but the Olympics are next year maybe he is just working on being in 1:41 shape for that and if that happens no one will care about his 2015 season. -
1:41, I hope you are joking douglas burke. Simmons will never even get close to 1:41. He isn't running these DL meets because he is out of shape and more importantly the DL meets don't want him. Simple as that.

Meet Directors do not need this nutcase mucking up their meet with bulltucky protests. They invite who serves them best.

I assume you're talking about right now, because I think Brooks DEFINITELY got their money's worth out of Nick this year. Yeah it was a quiet first few months (unless you count American Ninja Warrior), but not only was he a national champ, he also got Brooks a ton of attention for the whole Nike clothes ordeal as that story managed to hit the mainstream media. Plus he tends to strongly push Brooks in his social media presence. Love him or hate him, it's hard to think of another top runner who has done more for their sponsor this year. -
Nick, and most of the Beast affiliated athletes, may well have difficulty with entry to certain DL meets due to the worldwide reach of Nike.
Hard to say how this impacts specific meets, but 'Nike events' like Pre Classic are ones that will shout out brands/athletes (eg Nick) that do not suit them. -
Nick was in great shape but after deciding not to go to Worlds he took some downtime. He's now building up getting ready for Rio.
Nick was ready to run under 1:44 in Beijing. -

Based on last time I read the rules, which I don't want to track down again right now, you don't get automatic entry for that. Auto invites go to last year's champion, current points leaders, and one person from host country if the meed director wants.
The rules don't specify whether "leaders" means the leader or the top 3 or top 5 or whatever, but I don't recall Symmonds earning even one DL point this year. There are only two slots without DL points in Brussels. One has a 1/2 second faster SB than Symmonds, and the other made the final in Beijing. -
Because Richard and Gene demanded he make it to the family reunion.
