There are many reasons but the "main reason generally" is genetics.
http://www.livescience.com/46877-denmark-happiness-genetics.htmlSome people -- specifically, those who've won the genetic lottery -- who are handsome, intelligent, athletic and mentally stable -- are able to have an enjoyable life. For the rest of us, getting by is such a struggle that there is not much room for having a well-rounded, vibrant life.

The other forces you to chose between lumping and none lumping cat litter but in any case you have to change it often or it begins to smell.
Not to sound cheesy, but it is a choice. For most people. Not saying that there aren't chemical imbalances on each side, there are. For the most part people who enjoy life do things they love and don't worry about details. Honestly the happiest people I know have had circumstances that should not warrant a happy life and others that are miserable are so despite being intelligent, capable, and good looking.
Passion and hobbies and having great relationships with people creates enjoyment in life as well. And some not caring about some things.
For me right now...I am very content and enjoy each day... But there is still a voice inside my head that says I don't deserve to have such an easy life, that I should be working harder, that I should give up my dreams, that everyone has got to work for everything they get, why do I think I'm special, etc.
But...if I could just live day by each day moment by moment...laugh with my son, immerse myself in my work, really taste the wine, feel the grass on my feet, have a long conversation with a friend, think of good ideas, life would be great every day.
Stress from finances.
Neurological disorders.
Crappy attitude.
Loneliness.
Appreciate beauty, marvel at nature, admire the kaleidoscope of colors around you, savor fine flavors, engross yourself in thought, learn new skills, laugh with family, free your mind with rigorous exercise, help a friend
Doing what and living how you want within your abilities and financial reality vs. doing what and living how others think you should.

"People who enjoy life do things they love and don't worry" Is that the reason (cause) they enjoy life or does that simply correlate with enjoying life.
This thread will be flooded with good advice about what you need to do to lead a happy life. All these posts will have common sense but maybe they are wrong. Maybe people genetically programmed to be happy automatically do things they love and don't worry but its not the reason they are happy.
Be rich, handsome, or have a big penis.
Two out of three and you are happy as are clam. One out of three and you can maybe force happiness.
Most people have 0.
BTW I have all of those. Pretty fcking happy.

This pretty much sums up, ... except being able to do the former instead of the latter could be a genetic trait itself.
Not everyone is born with the same constitution or make up. It is as easy as that.

Some people just don't appreciate a good fart.
Live in an all white neighborhood. My happiness has skyrocketed.
I think it's a choice when you reach a certain point of financial security and self acceptance and self love. At least in my view, because that's what it took for me. In the developed world, most of have the wealth and leisure to live a good life, as long as we don't get too caught up in comparison anxiety.

this right here. some people, like this guy above, choose to play the victim. they only get satisfaction by being miserable and getting sympathy from others.
the rest of us just do the best we can, don't make excuses, realize that there are inequities in life, and try to be a little better today than we were yesterday.
