So from November to March every year HS runners post threads about "Can I go X:XX by XXXXX of this season?"
Usually it is sub-2 in the 800m, or sub-4:20 or 4:30 for 1600, or there were a lot of 9:30-9:50 type threads this Winter. Mostly along the lines of "I just ran 9:54 indoors. Can I run sub-9:30 to place at States?-type thing."
Every year many people go to some lengths to give advice to those aspiring to win Conference Meet, make it to States, or just break a time barrier. I am wondering how it went for any of you who posted any kind of thread about this?
Would you mind posting a link to your original post/thread and then how you fared, and what you think worked for you or what did not? Maybe a brief reflection on how well you met the goals you had by the END of the season and what goals you reached that you had at the BEGINNING of the season? Maybe a synopsis of the best race you had last season that you did under the training advice you received from the LRC crowd.
I am always curious if the "50 mpw base" advice helped the aspiring 2:00 800m runner or whether 15-mile long runs can push you under 9:20 or whether doubles get anyone under 4:30. I am already done with HS and have my mind made up about what works, but I guess I find it inspiring when the 10:40 runner last year runs 9:50 and makes the Honor Roll Meet, or the 2:02 runner from last year wins his Conference Meet or something like that.
So, what worked for you, and what did not? It doesn't have to be a novel. Just what advice were you able to glean from LRC and put to good use?
