Compiled a list of 5k PRs going back two seasons for each of the team contenders (Allegheny, Carnegie Mellon, Dickinson, Elizabethtown, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, Swarthmore and Widener) to see which teams have good 5k runners (few run the 10k outdoors and 8k times are inconsistent). My list includes everyone that has run close-ish to 15:00 (~sub 15:10) and below. Doubt this says much since it leaves off some really good cross country runners (Stefan Arnold, George Degen, etc.), but still interesting.
Actually Degen should be on this. He ran 14:45 in track this past year. Carnegie Mellon looks really good. Josh Antonson is staying another season, so they will have the whole top 5 back. They are unstoppable.
Degen isn't coming back next year.

yeah not really sure how I missed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I'd say if some of those Haverford runners are back in good shape again this coming season, it could be an interesting match up between CM, Haverford and Widener.
Widener will be lucky to get top 3. Overrated team
Just stating a fact? Marquardt beat Pitone by a second last year and they have 4/5 guys returning. One of them had a breakout 14:28. Not saying their the best, just on paper anyway.
Okay, they have 2 good guys who should be up there in the mix to win. After that? A decent 3rd and then 4 and 5 are average at best. They lost a couple good seniors from their team that got 2nd last year

From info on TFRRS, Haverford seems to have an absolute monster of a class coming in this year-- a couple 15:3x guys and a bunch more under 16. Probably won't matter this year. Other than that, it is pretty hard to bet against CMU with how many returners they have. Marquardt will wreck the region again. Haverford probably won't get the win, but don't expect anything lower than 4th for them. 2-4 will be a hard battle between Hop, Widener and Haverford barring injury.

CMU got lucky at Regionals last year. There entire squad had great races, there 6th man Cullinane was low 26, I highly doubt you guys pull it together and have that much depth at Regionals again
They basically only subtract Degen, but Ryan Auld (7th man at regionals) ran a 15 5k as a freshman. I think they had a few other guys run 15:20 ish 5ks, so they should have a nice top 5 and some solid depth.
But honestly this region is still a toss up, wouldn't be surprised if Widener or CMU or Haverford win it. 1-4 should be a tight finish w/ Hopkins too.
If confusion is still on about the regional switch, Steiner told me and a buddy at a race this summer that Allegheny was switching regions. So, assuming his word is correct, they are no longer in the mid east region.
And as another note, steiner is back. His lack of effort the past two years will be redeemed as he is actually logging miles this summer, and has an easy workload for school his senior year (That's why he didn't run outdoor, wated to focus on school). He told me he wants to run extremely well, and I think he will.
Just look at Allegheny's meet schedule. They are in the Great Lakes region now
schedule wasn't up when first posts were made about the region switch

Their returners are better than that. Archer 14:51 Auld 15:03 Bollens 15:05 Langevin 15:14. Plus Antonson and Julien were all region last year.
No love for F and M? I ran w/ Steve Monaco/ Luke Kiskaddon/ Hilton Robinson etc back in the mid/ late 90s and we used to own chumps like Dickinson/ Muhl

Does Coach Carroll still work at Swarthmore?
yeah, he still works at Swat. Doing an alright job.
In unrelated news, the Seahawks are looking for a new head coach.
To confirm Ruh Roh's statement, Pitone is hurt. Also, McDermott's transferring, Bilotta quit and Fortin died. We should just count Widener out of the mix right now.
