All the hype this year has been about Blankenship as the new up and coming 1500 star in America and much there has been much allusion to him being the expected third qualifier for this year's trials. I don't necessarily disagree with the hype as he certainly has asserted himself into conversation as a prospect, but I think people are ignoring another guy who certainly can't be forgotten. This man is Kyle Merber. He performed well at World Relays, the U.S. Indoor 1000m and this weekend running a 3:34. This is coupled with the fact that he's proven he's got some respectable 800 wheels as he ran a 1:46 earlier this season. I think people have to seriously consider this guy a threat for a spot behind Centro and Manzano this season. A greater threat than Blankenship? I wouldn't say that, but I think he's definitely a comparable talent a dark horse air about him. I'm interested in what you guys think about this.
