Thanks for the article. It seems there will be another tomorrow. 50K in the AM and 20K PM. Very impressive.
I love this chick.
Thank you for your support, I need love to.
Thanks. Very good interview.
Dunes when Takahashi, Radcliff & Ndereba all line up fit who wins? My pick Takahashi, better drugs, better training, better mental prep.
Drugs? No way Jose... Q-chan is just training very hard and very high mileage.
Yes, Q-chan will kick that brit girl's ass in Athens.
Jason
70k a day? yah right
Yeah that's 43 miles. I used to have to travel to work everyday round trip 50 miles. I got tired of it and forced my employer to fire me, because I was threatening co-workers, so that I could collect unemployment. I became a bad ass after that.
You are just an ass.
Dear Septic read Dr. Van Aaken then get back to me. The woman is the best professional marathoner in the world in competition (not time trials, ie London, Chi). What do you think she is doing with her time?

Like she said in the interview, she only occasionally runs up to 70K per day. Some days are only 20K. I got the impression that the 70K day was infrequent, not the norm.
When are people going to realise jason that the amount of training someone does has no relevance to whether or not they are clean, in actual fact those on the juice are probably training harder than those who are clean, simply because it means they can, they recover quicker, train at a higher level, therefore they produce better races. Thats why these monster sessions cut no ice. People seem to have this falacy that people take drugs as a shrt cut, that they won't have to work so hard, in actual fact it allows them to work harder. This is why all this crap about Radcliffe running 5.30 miles for 140 per week cuts no ice, it doesn't prove shes clean, it just tells us that she can carry out a huge amount of training, something which she could also do if she was on the juice. There are hundreds of World Class athletes out there, in my opinion the majority of them want to train harder, or be able to train harder, that isn't the problem, the problem is that their bodies don't allow them to, either through illness or injury, the drugs allow them to train harder.
I just finished part two of the interview. Sound like this girl has it all together.

The women's marathon is by far the most interesing event on the world running scene right now.

Yes, very nice.
I would also like to see Takahashi win first in Athens.
How did her rib get broken?
I know that the answer your looking for but I will not tell you. Dunes is Takahashi clean, I doubt it myself?
Yes I am sure she is clean.
Her mind is focused on running.

I think that is a good question I'd like to see answer for.
I like this second part of interview much better than the first--so now I will give my intellectual impression since you runners are so often obliterated by reality, as I was when I was a runner.
I like most what she said about her coaching and coaches in general--saying they all train basically the same and that you need to train who you are most comfortable with. Takahashi strikes me as a very comfortable person to be with--so I say her coach must be likewise comfortable to be around. She does not seem artificially adamant about her coach, aside from saying that they communicate well together. What can be a more improtant facet of coaching and runner relationship? So, now I am impressed by coach Kiode as a person and a trainer of champions. I compare Takahashi's relationship with her coach with wejo's relationship with his coach and I see a lot of similarities--except I don't see wejo being as comfortable person as Takahashi seems to be. In fact, wejo does not seem to possess profound thnking like like Takahashi. Well, who can really say on message boards? Wejo is not anywhere near as shallow minded as he comes off sometimes--that I am sure of. He does not strike me as being superficial like so many Americans are--and neither does John Kellog(sp?). Yet this is typical that people from eastern culture come off as not as superficial like we americans are with their multi-layered eastern philosophies. Where western drives to succeed is based entirely (so it seems to me) from exterior motivation--those from the east drive to suceed seem to come from entirely interior motivation. Which one do I say sounds more forthcoming and desirable--of course I say the latter. Indeed, I find eastern phiosophical means very simple and not complex at all. Now go try to study Socrates as I have--you will find that most professors who teach socrates do not understand him at all. I do understand Socrates--but he is a complex thinker. So, I say that western philosophy has nothing plain to it and it is not inferior to eastern philosophy in any way--but is far to comples to grasp and to hold in hand. Hard for me to put my finger on something so intangible and hard to negotiate. Then you have western thought beset and boggled with christianity that also escapes full comprehension of any kind. So we see differing facets of western philosophy clashing with others--but we see the exact same weakness in eastern philosophy and culture. So, if we look at both cultures with overview--one does not seem to have more answers than the other--one seems too superficial and complex--the other seems profound and, yet, too simple. It then becomes a matter of which of the two is more to your liking. Well, eastern philosophy is more in touch with nature--so I adapt better to it. But I cannot do this at putting down western thought. I really do not see eastern philosophy being supreior to western philosophy or vice versa. But I do realize that I have just now spoken well over most readers' heads. I must be off.
