I think you underestimate the cleverness of people. I would say the number is definitely into the "hundreds." I bet many of the people that get caught bring attention to themselves. Like your squirrelly girl and this asshat.

this is the final one. There was two post from him at the top of the conversation but it's very very long and they've already been shared on here so I started screen shoting from when he re-entered the conversation. Also, am not really sure why he is in the Dopey Challenge group. He is not registered to do it and he hasn't done it in any recent years. http://imgur.com/a/Wljer
Most of the finish line photos are not of people who ran the marathon. So if 3:11 is on the clock some of them are half marathoners. The half starts at 13.1 on the course not at the marathon start. Also I estimate close to half the people are relay team runners. The one thing I noticed when running this marathon is a lot of early leg relay runners join the final leg runner for the final 6 or so miles. So there are all kinds of people on the course who are not marathon runners.
If someone has the blog and twitter cache things handy can they repost them please. Mike is saying he personally didn't share the letter but I've seen his twitter were he is literally sharing it constantly. Does anyone have that? The blogs would be useful too so that I can get him to stop pretending to be an innocent
This is a summary of Mike's response on Dopey Challenge:
1. The letter was meant to remain private but his friends shared it and it went viral (Contradicted his twitter feed where he shared the latter constantly)
2. He trained hard and 'crushed' LV. He thinks it's irrelevant that there's no photos so he obviously doesn't know enough about races that this is one of the main red flags to a race director. He doesn't think it's uncommon that someone has no photos other than the finish even though he is the only person at the race to not have any on the course.
4. "People (*like me) do dumb things..." in talking about the letter which he seems to care more about than the accusations.
5. He doesn't see the need to release any training runs, apparently other people have already released some of them. " I don't need to prove I ran LV. Someone needs to prove I didn't". He has admitted wearing a Nike watch at LV but claims he did not use the GPS function. Says he rarely uses the GPS for races, only training runs. "More often than not run without any tracking or electronics" (What are the earphones for then?) Confirmed he did have his phone with him but did not use it for the race
6. He has declined the offer to race for cash because he doesn't want the attention. After 13 weeks recovery he claims he will run again and get a BQ.
7. If he had not been injured at Boston he would have got a sub 3:20
8. A friend told him to run without any music or electronics and so he has done so at most races. (Contradicted. Most race photos show him wearing earphones).
9. He answers questions like a politician, choosing which ones to answer and ignoring any that have facts that contradict him.
Here you go Sara. That was my first thought when I was reading those FB posts - he says he just said that stuff privately. Ha - he is retweeting it like his life depends on it.Nice job on posting those FB posts btw. This guy does not know when to shut up.

Thank you, i've posted that link on facebook now so that he'll stop pretending to be an innocent party and have asked him this (I realise by posting it that people can figure out who I am but I don't mind). I'll let everyone know if I get an answer:
'Mike Rossi your comment about the photos suggests a complete lack of understanding of racing. Whenever a runner does not appear on any race photos on the course it's a complete red flag to them of someone cheating. If I was you I'd be going through every photo trying to find one of myself and say look here I am otherwise you will get a DQ. People saying they trained with you will not cut it as evidence. You are the only person in the whole of the marathon that does not have a photo anywhere on the course. If you don't want a DQ then you need to find that photo or tell people where to look. I think you're underestimating the seriousness. Chicago will no longer accept your time if you get a DQ and Boston may also strike you off. You could get banned from both races so my question is why aren't you spending as many hours as we are trying to find an image of yourself on that course rather than going on about a letter that you tweeted like a billion times? Find that image and this is all over'
"What's sad is that given professional training and/or more patience (and a new BQ standard at 50) Rossi might have qualified honestly in a couple years. Guess some people want their gratification now."
I thought this also. One of the articles cracked me up cracked me up by stating (paraphrased) For years Mike has dreamed of running Boston. He's so dedicated.... Ha, funny stuff, their are people who've tried their whole running careers to get into Boston, honestly, and couldn't do it. A newbie trying for around two years hardly qualifies as an odyssey.
I also find if funny that he is willing to give up his doctor and share his MRI results to anyone that asks but this GPS data that he supposedly has is completely off limits. Um, ok....
Coming next: Mike Rossi @ Kona. With the full Ironman labeled gear.
I want to start saving all the links in one place. I can go through the thread and find each one but if anyone has any that they can repost that would be great, especially the finish photos and videos from other races.
Did he just run Broad Street this past Sunday?? If he was so injured in Boston why run a 10 miler?
I am sure they are in the vehicle that took him to his jump in point.

Thanks for adding timing mats next year!
They should have mentioned that in the article. That's a big piece of information to be left out.
Very interesting, Sara. He does seem to understand the significance of him not showing up in any race photos, but he's already setting up an argument that there are pictures out there that we haven't seen and/or were destroyed ("I'm also curious...would like to see the photographers raw footage"). A simple affidavit from the photo company stating that they dumped all of the data into the library will suffice for everyone except Rossi, I'm sure.
As someone whose involvement has been limited mainly to looking at thousands of pictures, including the complete rolls for at least three locations, I can promise Mr. Rossi that the photographic evidence here rises almost to the level of a video recording. For probably 30 minutes of an early portion of the race, a photographer took over 10 photos a minute. So unless he can run 200 meters on a bridge's incline in less than 6 seconds, he should be in that roll of photos.
in reading the conversation on the Doopey Challenge is it a 12 or 13 week recovery? Rossi says both.

Sara here you go:
From the post:
Poster: .....looking forward to writing a lecture on the topic for my leadership students.
MR: ...I will come speak to your class.
Poster: Oh gosh no, I teach leadership.
Burnt to a crisp!
He says in the Facebook comments that Sara posted that he didn't use the GPS function on his Nike watch when running the VIA Marathon.
Yet in one of the interviews posted the other day, he clearly mentioned that he does have a GPS track of the event, but declined to share it.

This is also contradicted by the fact that he told the press that he never set the letter to the school, it was only designed for social media.
