I don't believe for a second he did this for his kids, it was just pure ego that many many people could do if they were insecure enough to do what he did. Really, you need so badly for some recognition that you would do something like this? Insecurity in its highest form.
If he really did this for his kids, what message does that send. Why did daddy sprint out to the front and then get passed by thousands of runners, while the other guys up front were actually competing and stayed towards the front for much longer than a mile.
I just hate stories like this, especially when all the Jogger's world readers think he is a hero. Really, for leading a 26 mile race for one mile. Really.
