This site does not have Chicago in the top 30 for murder rates. I saw another source that had Chicago at 21.

i work at a lot of hospitals on the south side. most of the patients are from englewood. a lot of them are very nice to me and the staff. a few have come in with casts split in half and they say they were at a party over the weekend and someone started shooting so they had to run. im like... okay thats a good enough excuse i guess.
had a patient the other day, only 20, shot from being mugged by people he didnt know.
the locations of the murders are pretty specific. its not like people are running up and down michigan ave/state st shooting people. there are certain areas people dont goto(70's and halsted). most of the crime is gang related.

Chicago Year To Date
Shot & Killed: 95
Shot & Wounded: 504
Total Shot: 599
Total Homicides: 111
No suspect charged in 70% of those cases. Cops don't care about black deaths so the perps are free to do it again and again and again.
It's the same all over the country.
Manhattan South’has 10 homicide cops, one per murder in 2015.
Brooklyn North North has 5 detectives per homicide,.

I meant Brooklyn North has 1 detective per 5 murders

Fence in those specific areas and drop thousands of guns in there. Problem solved.

The people in the neighborhoods refuse to talk to the police. This makes it VERY difficult to find and charge a suspect. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with it, and it has to do with police indifference...

Yes, that is pretty much the premise of this book:

NYC has prioritized stopping graffiti over catching murderers.
Mind you it worked out for me, or I wouldn't have been able to find a luxury apartment in Northern Harlem.
I've never understood why people like to use Chicago homicide figures as a talking point, because it has never made much sense.

I agree. Black people killing each others is totally uninteresting. We should concentrate on the important injustices in our society. We could start by organizing some huge rallies against those chick-fil-a gangsters.

If you have neighborhoods/districts that pay minimal taxes into the system, should they get the same level of services?
How much are we as a society willing to help (read: willing to pay in tax dollars) people that not only don't help themselves but actively engage in activities that harm themselves, their neighborhoods, and their reputations?

That is so wise, sane and sensible - quite soon, it must surely be condemned as racist.
