Uuhh, yeah. That private school non-dischargable debt that is an anchor in the lives of young people unlikely to get a job sufficient to pay it down in 10 years.
I also like the personal attack you threw in there at the end. Classy. Reminds me of status sensitive ivy leaguers. Good job.
I don't think you're following my point on the financial aid. I was responding to the statement that most ivy leaguers couldn't tell you where the student loan office is. That's just not true. The breakdown of their loan/aid packages varies greatly by school, and is beside the point. Ivy League women are far from universally wealthy.
And I don't think it's fair to call last statement a personal attack. I have no idea how smart or educated anyone on this thread is, and I never claimed to. I just offered two possible explanations for why someone might accuse Ivy League women of being condescending. Yes, my hypotheticals had negative implications. But when someone is making insulting blanket generalizations and you don't know anything about their identity or relevant personal experiences, then offering a possible counter-explanation is about all one can do other than saying, "my broad experience leads me to a different conclusion."
It goes without saying that I'm self interested when I say Ivy League women aren't generally stuck up. I'm just offering a reason why a neutral listener might not want to reflexively trust the other guy either.
(As a point of clarification, the discussion of Ivy League condescension has no connection to the person I initially quoted. It was a response to an earlier statement in the thread.)
