Your illegitimate Siamese twin?
The times will come down, that's a certain.
What cracks me up about NB even having the DISTANCE medley relay record is that it was totally their 400 leg that set them up for the win. They were outsplit in the 1200 and 800 legs and their 1600 leg is barely better than the NJNY team's. Tully's move was awesome, I have to wonder if she were able to re-run the leg if she's wait a half or quarter lap more. That was a sweet move though.

Nobody outside of the US cares at all about this distance.
Look at the line-ups in the new US record teams. (Sorry, I mean "world record" teams.) Aside from a couple of names there is nobody even world-caliber in these lists. Yet they have a "world record."
Offer up real money to the fastest time of the season and these records would be shown as the B-league they are. A motivated team with Caleb Ndiku, Asbel Kiprop, Silas Kiplagat and David Rudisa could run this in ANY ORDER and still CRUSH the new American "world record."
Don't even get me started on the new women's "world record."
It's still the WR! The WR for mile was once in the 3:50s. If the interest becomes greater...then the record will be lowered in the DMR. Until then those who have it deserve congrats.

Sweet indeed, I agree! Tully was awesome! She was not intimidated, she was thinking on the fly and made a pure guts move. She made it a race and her NJNY teammates did a great job setting her up. Man, I wanted her to get it! Love the DMR and the SMR as well.
From tiny acorns mighty oaks grow.
The event will be on the world stage now that it has been added to the World Relays Meet and the times will come down as it gets contested more often.
The concept is not a joke at all.
Is the current WR time longer than one should expect? Yes.
Do we ALL AGREE that in all probability the time needed to set a WR in the DMR will become markedly shorter as we see more National All Star Teams contesting it? Yes
Should we mock the current record holders because they combined to run fast than any team has in the past?
I opine:
Only when you are in the 'Where Your Dreams Become Reality' world is it considered permissible to mock WR holders as being unworthy.

It's not a proper WR though is it -don't act like it is
Actually I don't see the DMR listed on the IAAF site of indoor relay records.

Yes, nobody gives a hoot about the DMR, it's a college event and will never be anything more, nor measure up to the SMR, any more than the 4x8 will ever compare to the 4x4 (the absolute, undisputably BEST event in all athletics by far...)
relays are for sprints, distance relays on the track are a stupid waste of time.
Indoor Athletics are not a major sport.
Have to admit the dumbest relay of all time is the sprint medley.

DMR is a joke "record."
Any relay time where the sum of the world's 5th-fastest seasonal PRs per event is FASTER than the "WR" is not a record.
What about the 20,000m record on the track that the IAAF recognizes?
The en route 20K best is faster than the 20,000m track record.
Obviously a joke. Get it out of the books.

Yes.
Any relay where the GOAL is to be BEHIND when the anchor starts....joke.

The fact the world class professionals are running this means that you are wrong.
I understand that they are mostly doing it for fun and a way to break up the usual but they are still doing it and taking it seriously.
There have been some good USA vs. the World DMRs at Penn Relays.
Manzano, Lagat, Kipchirchir, World Champ Alfred yego gave a hoot to run this event and people here have been excited to see these these races and discuss them.
It's more than a college event. Obviously since the world best time is faster then the college best time.
"Waaaaaaaa! I thought the US had a real live distance record!"
Nope.
