Flomena Chepchirchir - 2:23:00 marathon best (2nd Frankfurt 2013), 68:06 half marathon best
Definitely not a 'b' list athlete. Also 4th in Berlin Marathon

Doping doesn't help Kenyans (it may even slow them down!) so we should not punish the ones who fail dope tests
I do have a problem with this though, they all (most all?) seemed to be from testing in mexico or south america, and were all nandrolone or nandrolone related positives. I never trust those b/c they are often either contaminated supplements or steroid fed beef issues (no joke, this is very prevalent in low income countries like Mx, So America). I have zero doubt that many kenyans (and others) are intentionally doping, but this smells like a lot of accidental/unintentional bullcrap which perhaps is intended to take the heat away from the big guns who actually are doing doping that helps (nandrolone isn't going to give nearly the enhancement that epo or hgh would!).
but of course this is just my .02
I don't understand why this list need publish. Doping is a problem, yes, but it is still very small in Kenyan compared to USA, Europe, etc. Why single out Kenya.
I think a good solution is: don't publish any more Kenyan list, let things clean up by themselves. Go back and let our athletes compet.
Watcher, I was thinking the same thing, but there's one big exception that undermines your theory - Matthew Kisorio. Also positive for the same steroid and admitted taking it, so it seems that there is a precedent for deliberate use of it as a PED among Kenyan athletes.
A Kenyan women who has not won a major marathon is not a big name.
Do you think many people recognize her name here?

This article says the banned athlete is "Flomena Jebet Chepchirchir".
The runner you are referring to is "Filomena Mbote Chepchirchir" according to tilastopaja:
http://www.tilastopaja.org/db/atw.php?ID=6035&ID2=865.85or Filomena Chepchirchir on all-athletics.com:
http://www.all-athletics.com/node/135273or "Filomena Chepchirchir Mbote" according to ARRS:
http://www.arrs.net/PYRank/PY_Mara.htmor just Flomena Chepchirchir many places on the net:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Flomena+Chepchirchir&oq=Flomena+Chepchirchir&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8Last night when I looked for results for "Flomena Jebet Chepchirchir" I found nothing really and I just assumed it was because she wasn't good enough to show up on the major sites, but we'll look into this more. Maybe they are the same person. Many Kenyans have very similar or even the same name, so it can be confusing. Online she's being referred to as Filomena and Flomena ... which is it?
I agree the Flomena Chepchirchir that has ran 2:23 and placed 4th in Berlin would be a fairly big name (even if not Rita Jeptoo level).
absolutely true, though I can't help but wonder if even Kisorio was just dumb luck (bad for him, good for everyone else!) and had some bad supp's. honestly it's something to consider. regardless, you're right that it's certainly worse than many always thought, but I still think there's a good chance that AK is just playing politics and using these 8 as sacrificial lambs and distractions. I suppose only time will tell.

I'm intending to dope, where can I go where the stuff is readily available, I can live cheaply, there's contaminated supplements or steroid fed beef issues so if I get pinged I can blame those and people will think it smells like a lot of accidental/unintentional bullcrap? Ah, I know Mx, So America. Lets face it if you're going to dope you'd be stupid not to have some kind of excuse ammunition ready to fire in case you got pinged.
It was confirmed on Facebook between a conversation with Justin Lagat and Jeroen Deen the best physio to the Worlds best Kenyans and Ethiopians.
She had a DNF in Frankfurt last year and then won Macau in December albeit a slower time.
Maybe confirm with her agency Volare just to make sure that it is the right one but from what I have seen and heard it is the same one

I've seen a few more recent articles saying it is the 2:23 Flomena Chepchirchir so seems to be true. Not sure why the initial article gave her a different "middle" name. Also strange that she isn't on the IAAF's banned athlete list which was updated yesterday and includes 6 of the 8 recently mentioned Kenyans:
http://www.iaaf.org/about-iaaf/documents/anti-dopingThat's what really was confusing me yesterday when I tried to confirm this because if she was on that list it would be easy to figure out who she was. First, that would present her name accurately and I could figure out what race she was caught at. My only theory is that maybe she was caught more recently (as opposed to most of the others who tested positive about a year ago) so hasn't found her way onto that list yet.
Anyway, thanks for bringing this to our attention, because it clearly is newsworthy. In the future, don't hesitate to email us at
letsrun@letsrun.com. It was only luck that I came across this thread.
Officials are so PC, and don't want to get into the fact that they've let Africans get away with no out of season and no spot testing for so long that they are soft pedaling it. They can nab a few low end players, maybe one or two here and there who are "almost" top-flight, but they will most certainly let a top tier athlete go if one is caught ( a la Lagat ). Because that will raise too many red flags and initiate too many questions. All one has to do is look at the drop in the quantity of guys running sub 13 etc. and you know that they're (Africans) spooked by testing somewhat. Canova is probably talking to himself all day long. lol
Will send email in future :)
That is also strange that she is not on the updated list. And that she only received a 6 month ban. I wonder when it is dated from because she won Macau Marathon in December
