Pre won every NCAA final he contested save for his first one; 7 in total. Liquori also won several NCAA titles. Pre had a better record here. Liquori was also good.
Ryun was a shadow of his former self in 1969, but props to Liquori for finishing 2nd & 1st over the mile indoors & outdoors that year.
Do you have a reading disability or something. Liquori beat the world record holder Jim Ryun in NCAA competition. He won three consecutive NCAA miles, which is far more meaningful than Pre's NCAA wins. Liquori wasn't merely "also good", he had the better record in NCAA competition.
No George, I don't have a reading disability. If you think my position is mistaken, you need only give reasons why my argument is wrong. Ad hominem attacks do nothing to advance your position.
I'm well aware that Liquori beat Ryun. I pointed that out in my post.
There is no objective standard to measure who had a better NCAA career. You believe that Marty beating a weary Ryun, along with 2 more NCAA mile wins, is enough to put his NCAA career ahead of Pre's, who had 4 consecutive 5000 wins and 3 XC wins, and only lost 1 NCAA championship in which he competed.
I simply disagree. I'm well aware of the facts regarding who did what.
Feel free to have the last word. I won't be responding to you any further.
