I am a very injury prone runner. My senior year of high school, I had 2 stress fractures back to back in my femur, and had 2 stress fractures in my foot on pretty low mileage, about 30 mpw. I walked-on to a DI university, but after the first week of practice decided with my doctor that I needed to take a break and that my body couldnt handle the amount of mileage these girls were doing. We also got a new coach and I took that as a sign as maybe I shouldnt do it. After a couple weeks off of running, I started to run again-only about 25 miles a week. A week ago I emailed the coach to see if I could try again- and he let me. I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing, he wants me to increase my mileage and that makes me nervous. Im not sure if my body can handle it and I dont want to be injured on such a big university. There are already 11 girls with stress fractures on the team. What should I do? Stay on the team, or just do the running club-something a little more low key?
