I had a base this summer and I'm slower than last year. I tried doing my last track workout before regionals and I am just dead after any 200m or 400m. I'm SO SLOW and it feels like it is getting worse. I run a good first mile every race but I just fall apart after that and I am gasping for air. Have seen no effects of base after about a month and a half of speedwork. I think I'm burnt out because my coach has had us doing 2 workouts a week consisting of 10x400 at mile race pace two minutes rest and 4x1400 faster than race pace 4 minutes rest for the past month and half with a race every week and no true recovery days. I think would have been better off not running at all this summer...Any experiences? Should I pay for a CBC? How expenseive are they?
