Looks like they're wearing the spandex tri guys wear. From the photo, it looks like the guy on the left has overtaken the guy on the right that probably blew up after going out to fast.
Cool - any clue how far the foot race was?

Tracksmith will soon announce their design inspiration was what these guys wore in 1900.
This is probably like that english sport of walking - where they went from town to town.
