Everywhere he goes. Elliptigo. He crushes it going up I-95 to race in Boston and NYC.
I shopped a 2010 GTR recently. It was almost a daily driver for the guy and had 50k on the odometer and asking 55K? (too much I thought). Anyways, he had a child seat in the back to take his toddler to daycare

why in the world would nike pay centro a half million dollars?
call them the evil empire all you want - I can't imagine that is an investment rather than charity.
I suppose you can say in a sun tzu sense that nike needs to keep medalists on their payroll so the enemy won't get them.
Still...
Doesn't Centro have 2 international medals and a 4th place? I think he's gone to 3 international championships outdoors and those are his results. How many American distance runners have EVER produced those results? In the past 30 years?
I'm not saying blowing money on a car is a great idea, but if any distance runner has earned his pay with results at intl championships it seems it should be him, followed closely by Rupp.
On a side note, maybe an accountant can comment here, but could Centro write any of this off on the basis that the car supports his image and marketability, part of which supports his salary/contract negotiations? Too much of a stretch?
There was certainly something to seeing Carl Lewis roll around in a Ferrari as opposed to a Nissan Maxima.
Mike Morgan drives an '06 Corolla make the girls Holla.
I'm just saying there is no way he produces an extra $500,001 in profits for Nike - no way.

If your run it through a schedule C would you not avoid a franchise tax via your personal return?
I'd imagine most professional runners file with a schedule C and not a corp return anyway.
I'd go out and buy an overpriced car to make myself feel better if Alex K broke up with me too.
The brojos each have a convertible Chrysler Sebring.

Only a fiscal moron wastes his own money on a depreciating asset.

um, here's some math:
a used GTR costs $60,000.
A new GTR cost much more than that.
That is called a depreciating asset.
Which is why he should trade that dog in for a 2014 Shelby GT500.

I'm serious. What's his yearly take from his nike contract - $150k? can't be 200-300, right? Unless your family is beyond wealthy, spending nearly an entire year's salary on a car is ridiculous. Especially since the likelihood is he'll only have a running contract for another 2-4 years. At least Bolt is pocketing a mill a year or more and is marketable well beyond his competitive years.

Agree. Chances are possible, almost good (didn't say definite) Centro's peak will last another 2 years.
Holman's working a "Wall Street" like job. K.Sullivan's coaching college. Lassiter's coaching HS. Stember's an Executive for an energy company. Pyrah's an Athletic Training / Sports Medicine Manager. McMullen sold medical equipment.
IN OTHER WORDS- Centro will be a regular Joe soon enough. He may very well wish he didn't spend $100K+ on a car. Especially given he was a Sociology Major. The "you only live once" is a reply no one past HS should make.
It's the B&O tax that kills independent professionals and small businesses in the state of Washington. It's not as bad a California though where the Santa Clara 49ers was given a FREE $1B stadium from the City of Santa Clara.

You people saying 150k/yr can bite my head off, but I think you are vastly underestimating their wages. Nike thinks/thought this kid was going to win medals. I've heard 350k for Matt, 500k for Wheating.
This is close. He's around $400k. Wheating is actually $650k.
Think about it relative to Alexa's total package of $250k from Nike.
