It is very interesting that you ripped on a school for its academics, yet you spelled the word academics wrong.
UNC Asheville has some of the best rates in the state of North Carolina for getting students into graduate schools and professional health schools. As someone previously mentioned, why would UNC Chapel Hill have its pharmacy school there? Why would NC State have an off-shoot of its Engineering school there? One reason is because they have a very strong science department. UNC Asheville's enrollment is not as big as all the other schools you mentioned, but that is it's purpose. You are never taught by a graduate assistant or a teachers assistant like you are at many of the other schools you listed. Per capita, they have the most professors with phd's in the North Carolina system. How many of the schools you mentioned have undergraduate research in which you can become published or obtain graduate level hours? They also founded the national council on undergraduate research 20+ years ago. This is why they have had a long standing history of having a 95% acceptance rate in medical school.
With all that being said, you can get a great degree at all of North Carolina's public universities.
