Hah. ever seen a cross fit person do push ups, pull ups or sit ups/crunches?
They do halfs.
The push ups are rapid and only half way, same with pull ups, they don't come down to a full extension, they start when they are only half way down. It's cheating. They all do it.
The Cross fit is a scam.
52 but I had lunch just 1hr ago. I think I can reach 60-70 in perfect conditions

We need video or photographic evidence.
At age 20 I did 56 push ups....the right way.
Now, at age 56 (57 next month) with shoulder and hand injuries from getting trampled from behind (a la Morgan Uceny)in a 5 mile road race last month, I cant do any, but even if I was on my game it would be a low number now, say, less than 10. Getting up "in shock" from the fall and stampede, I finished the race.
I did 16 pull ups that same week back in 1977/1978.
Still trying to stay minimally fit running 16-22 MPW.

I broke my right arm pretty badly a couple months ago. Before that, MAYBE 20
Depends on form.
Depends on if resting in the front leaning rest is authorized
On the Army APFT I'll push around 80.

Every other morning:
3 sets
40x standard
25x diamond
40x wide arm
interlaced with 3 sets
3x 10x pull-ups (sometimes 15, sometimes 7...)
interlaced with 3 sets
100x situps with weights (I hook my toes under the kitchen cabinet)
100x bicycles
100x flutter kicks
Typically, these are my non-running days; however, I've been known to double up after a tempo run.
Hold the crit: I'm getting old.
Did 24 decent ones this morning, 1min rest, 1 diamond, 1 min rest, 1 clap. When I regularly do pushups about every other day, I can easily reach 30-40 comfortably. Have been slacking recently. As a female distance runner, I don't think working to do many more would be all that beneficial.
I did 3 x 20 on Sunday, with one hand on a box, about 3 minutes apart with a set of crunches in-between, so I guess I could do 30+.
That's up from 17 a few months ago.
The improvement would never have happened without my long-term running injury.
I hope to be up to 50-60 by the time I get back to running.
I can't do a single unassisted pull-up yet.
There's a few free interval training apps on Google Play to help you increase max # push ups.

Do as many pushups as you can right now. How many can you do?
Bonus:
- How many diamond pushups can you do?
- How many times can you clap during a single pushup?
Right now I can do about 2 as I've been carrying a shoulder injury for the last year.
Ordinarily, I can do around 50 with good form.
Approx 50 with chest contact.
48 quality, regular pushups.
956 kipping pushups.

You physics/engineering folks can check me here: a strict-form pushup is basically like benching (strict form) half your body weight, correct?
Not exactly but you have the right general idea.
This is not exactly right primarily for two reasons:
1) Your body weight is not equally distributed from the soles of your feet to the top of your head. More of your mass is concentrated in your upper half. This causes you to be "benching" more than half your body weight. (imagine if ALL of your body weight were at shoulder level, then you would be benching 100%)
2) Your two points of contact/support are your toes (pretty much at one end of your body) and your hands, up through your shoulder (not really at the end of your body). This also causes you to be benching more than half your body weight. (imagine if your shoulders were at your center of mass, then you would be benching 100%)
To get an idea of how much weight you are actually "benching" place your hands on a bathroom scale while remaining in pushup position. For me the reading is about 70% of my body weight. For everyone it will be more than 50%. For men, in general it will be a slightly higher percentage than for women because men's weight is more concentrated in their upper body as compared to women's relatively higher concentrations around the hip area.
50 and I'm a girl.
I've always been able to crank out at least 70. Don't know why. I'll be deadly sore the next day, but I do them with good form.
Usually when people brag to me how many pushups they can do, they are doing half pushups at best. Arms locked at the top - contact with floor at 4 points on the bottom (nose, chest, pelvis, knees) is a full pushup.
I a, 6'4"/170 and can bench a set of 22 at 135 and can only do 50 pushups in the above described fashion. So I call BS on the 100 people are saying.

I tend to agree. But perhaps only because I have never been very good at pushups.
