This guy is legit... and still 18 years old. 3:28.x at that age is scary.
Pretty soon there will be a VIPAM thread asking when he will 'totally annihilate' the WR...

He's either an age cheat or by far the most talented 1500 runner of all time. I'm going to go with age cheat.
3:28 at any age is scary, though.

There are other 17/18 Kenyan 1500m guys who aren't running on the European circuit - and he didn't exactly kill it in world jr cross (9th).
He just equalled Mo's 1500 pr, at 18, which Mo set at 30.
Why shouldn't he be the most talented 1500 runner of all time?
Regardless of age, it's his rise to super elite level that is scary to me.
You can't run 3:25.xx by running 3:30 and chipping away half a second per year. By the time you get to 3:27 you will have maxed out.
On the other hand 3:28 and chipping away 0.5 per year is possible.
All I can find for him from before 2014 is a 3:45 1500... If that was his true PR headed into this season, his quick rise to prominence is definitely curious at the least
Age cheat and doped to the dorsals. Same old bullshit.
He's likely 26 or so. We'll only hear from him for one or two more years.
26 - try 30! Add 12 years to any Kenyans age to be accurate. Lagat is really 51, Geb is 52 (EthEPOians just as bad). See how easy it is? I think they either count every year as leap years, do everything in dog years, or don't start counting birth years until they reach puberty.
No way the guy is 18, looks like he is way older and definitely is (no probably about it). Since he is an age cheat then is also likely a doper as well - Don't the two go hand in hand?
Don't even entertain the possibility that he's 18. We know very well that there is systematic lying about age in Kenya. But Kwemoi is in his first year on the circuit and he sure does not have to improve much at all to be chasing El G's record. He will certainly not have a typical 18-22 improvement curve, since he's obviously much older, but he barely needs to improve at all.

American jealousy is so laughable. So, he waited until he's 30 to make his debut as a pro?
Obviously a great result. He'll disappear in a couple years. Whats Timothy Kitum been up to?

He's racing in Heusden tomorrow.
Remember when Driouch ran 3:50 as a 17 year old after going through 800m in 1:51? Hopefully the same fall from grace doesn't happen to Kwemboi.

Agreed. A 17 year old phenom probably doesn't know what's best for him, though.
Another Kenyan the Japanese have discovered and developed into a world-beater.
He's the mothafukin chosen one

The oldest he would be is 20. His huge drop in PR is pretty easily explainable. He goes from dirt tracks in high school type meets to a huge DL meet. Kenya has talent like that all over the country, but they never get the chance to run on the big stage.
There is not a thread for this but why in 4he world didn't Carlsbad measure the course BEFORE the race?
