Wow. 5 in that race 1:42.xx. Bosse looked incredible. Well, now we know the conditions are great for running fast today.

Yeah he did. I was like "well he's going to fade way back now anyways..." Then he made a move forwards and nearly took the win.
P.A. Bosse barely edged out by Amos but crushes Rudisha, Aman, and Kaki. French national record and faster than the American one.
I think this race should get him a little more noticed?
Great race. 5 142s. How many times has that happened?

looks like we now have a new stat to add--deduct 1.8 s if you abandon your national kit for a track uniform.
Tremendous time for this guy who has just made the leap from Olympic finalist quality to potential medalist.
PIERRE-ABROISE BOSSE with a 1:42.53 nation record right behind Amos!!!
We have a new player in the 800!
And a new great white hope!!!

I sure hope so. That's tied for #11 all-time with Timothy Kitum.

All the 800 "records for place" were set in the London 2012 final. That's the only other one that comes anywhere close.
Rudisha = done?
He just came back from being off a year? How is he done?
Rudisha continues to improve, already sub 1:43, just not good enough here. He is not far at all away from his top form. Kaki fell way back. Why did Solomon drop out?

You = moron
Off for a year with injury, now running faster every time he touches the track.
The idiocy here is incredible.

The 1996 Olympic 800 final is nearly identical to this race in terms of times for place.
1. Vebjørn Rodal (NOR) 1:42.58
2. Hezekiél Sepeng (RSA) 1:42.74
3. Fred Onyancha (KEN) 1:42.79
4. Norberto Téllez (CUB) 1:42.85
5. Nico Motchebon (GER) 1:43.91
6. David Kiptoo (KEN) 1:44.19
7. Johnny Gray (USA) 1:44.21
Everyone keeps hammering on the fact that Rudisha was off a year with injury but Nijel was also and you don't hear about that every-time he runs and doesn't win. Great tactical race by Nijel. I don't know if you guys know this but Rudisha ran Glasgow on the condition that Nijel would not be in the race. I doubt there is a official article on it but Nijel and our coach told us thats why he was in the 400m.
I knew nothing about him until he ran that 1:44 a few weeks back in the soccer jersey. Watch the race, he basically stops with 200 to go because he gets cut off or something like that (not implying foulplay). Then he just takes off and kicks it into another gear. That is REALLY hard to do at the end of a race.
I thought he had a 1:43 low in him just from that race. Clearly I underestimated him. What a monster, congrats. Throw this guy in a time trial with no traffic and I wouldn't be suprrised if he can scare 1:42.
Holy crap track has been really exciting the last few years. It's so great to see lots of nations with amazing runners.
