Why is UPenn men\'s XC team not going to Pre-Nationals. Is Lieb beat up again or do the boys have Heps on their minds?

didn't their assistant xc coach leave too. who is replacing him?
Steve Walsh left?
Yup. Mr. Walsh has left the building. I think he felt the environment wasn't right for him.

Walsh left to pursue his running career.
Let his 14:35 5k push him to the eltie level!

Actually asshole, Walsh is a miler. He ran probably one 5k per year. He managed to run 3:45 last year while devoting pretty much his whole life to his coaching duties. His 5k's were certainly subpar. You're probably some punk who can't even run 14:35 but has to rip on someone who runs that as a bad performance in what's not their primary event.
So, Walsh, may your 3:45 push you to the elite (not eltie) level. He's only got a few more seconds to be in the elite level among Americans. He realized this and that's why he's devoting his life to running. I think it's a very ballsy move.

ahh yes, and how many times did he run at meets on his own that penn wasnt running at?

Are you asking me? I don't quite understand what you're trying to get at. He ran probably only once or twice at meets that Penn wasn't running at (not counting local races) because he took his coaching duties seriously and was always at the meets that Penn was running at.
As another person in the know, I have my own suspicions about why Walsh left his assitant coaching post. I have no doubt that he wants to pursue his own running career, and I bet he will reap great benefits. However, the nature of his resignation leaves me to wonder whether or not he was really happy at Penn. He had to put up with a lot of bullshit from all directions. He was assistant coach for both the men's and the women's teams. Lieb can speak for the men's team, but not many can speak for the women's team. Was there some friction? Speculation and observation suggests there may have been.
Big Daddy Walsh is one of the best coaches around. he was also constantly working to better the team at Penn. i'd know, i had to listen to him talk about them all the time.... times.... training....matrixes.....yadda yadda yadda. Steve was very committed to the greatness of his athletes and he worked harder than most head coaches in the country.
Well, I (sorta) know Steve, and I thought he was a prick. I'm sure that has little to do with Steve as a coach or teammate, and he's great at both, but I thought different.
And before I'm called a troll, I was capable of matching him on several occasions. Thanks for the thought.
well, like personal accomplishments really have anything to do with critisicm...whoever said that is an idiot...i can say he was not very successful...he was also seen hammering the women into the ground at belmont plateau..not the men, just the gals
Steve was the only coach that had those women not doing incredibly stupid things.
Scott Tantino????
nevermind on that one, a moment of stupidity
I did Level 2 with Walsh and he came off as extremely arrogant...Far too much for someone with basically no resume as a coach.
I had the chance to race againist Steve a lot in college and I got to know him. He has been nothing but nice to me and anyone else I have ever seen him interact with.

i would just like to say that steve was a great coach while he was with penn, in particular with regards to the women's team. he helped to completely turn around the women's program. he dedicated so much time and effort into his coaching. i have been coached by many elite coaches throughout my running career and few have lived up to the level of dedication that steve gave us here at penn. you can't even put into words how much he cared about the team.
