I'm 5'11, currently 164lbs. I still run about 60mpw. I lifted very sporadically last year but have really only been lifting consistently for the past three months. Because I'm a novice lifter, I've been sticking to the 8-12 rep range and figure I'll stay here another few months before dropping down to sets of 4-6. I have been getting significant strength gains just from doing sets of 8-12, so no problems there.
Anyway, I tested my max strength yesterday by converting 4rm to 1rm using this calculator:
http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html
My totals are as follows:
Bench: 185
Squat: 273
Deadlift: 300
I feel like these are pretty good considering I'm still running and I haven't been lifting long, but I really don't know much about lifting. I do remember it was a big deal to lift 800lbs between the three lifts in jr. high, but I don't think many kids did this, and I would guess most weren't endurance athletes with a BMI of 22.9. The only guy who did it when I was around went and lifted weights every day and probably weighed 190lbs by the time we were 9th graders.
Anyone want to chime in? What kind of gains can I expect in the next year if I continue to run 60-80mpw and continue to lift about once per week?
