So I just finished up my high school running career, and due to a number of factors, I decided not to run in college, I was/am pretty fast, my high school pr's were 1:55, 4:16, and 9:21. I am going to start training for the Olympic distance triathlon this summer. As of now, my training will look something like alternating between a hilly 8-10 mile run + 1-2 mile swim, and on the other days, a 20-30 mile ride and an occasional gym session. I have two questions, and any other general advice would be much appreciated. First, since I am already a good runner, should I focus more on swimming and biking, at least in the short term? Also, I already have a pretty good aerobic base from two summers of base building for xc, but should my training this summer to prepare for triathalons next year resemble what I would do to prepare for xc? (Distance over quality). Next year, I will join the club team, and train pretty hard. Any general advice or comments would be much appreciated.
