For sure, it was a comeback which yo can also call to be OK. Not really good, but also not bad at all for the first race. For sure he will (at least I think so) improve his performance in the races to come. I just said his DOMINANCE might be over. There are great (very) young athletes in the event at the moment which seem to have same potential as Rudisha, and Rudisha already has a few seasons at highest level behind him. This season definitely will go to Amos (and maybe Aman). For the next years we have to wait. London was unique and we should not expect something similar.
Stop with the criticism, Rudisha had to go to prom.
He's the same as his coach - very inconsistent

That's possible.
On the other hand, there was nothing in today's results that indicate that Rudisha could not regain his earlier form this year. This was just a big-time rust buster after a 1.5 year layoff.
We shall see.

Yeah it really is a bummer that we have a guy only running 26.44
Yeah considering he suffers from hypothyroid, asthma, allergies, and had could not win a conference title till his 5th year of college, 26:44 is not bad.
I think it's also important to remember that even though his last race was a year ago, that was pretty much his only race last year; so since Sept 2012, he's run once or twice, and nothing in the last 12 months.
I also think he ran today's race a little hot. The first 200m was 24 or something, iirc, then he had the wind in the backstretch, and pushed too hard to fight for position on the final bend … in his London form, I'm sure he'd have won, but he just lacks the strength now. All of which seems perfectly normal or reasonable to me.
Do you think Amos and Aman are better now than they were in 2012? Because if Rudisha gets back to that form, which I think (i.e., hope) he can, I don't see any reason why he can't be #1 again.
Either way, it's a great time for the men's 800m.
How come nobody is talking about Tori Bowie? She won an elite 200m from lane 1. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 200m winner out of lane 1 in a elite meet.
Not only that she ran a 22.18. That's got to be one of the faster times ever from that lane.
AMaing story on her here:
http://www.iaaf.org/news/report/eugene-diamond-league-lavillenie-martinot-lagLooks like she found herself a new event. Last minute lane fillers everywhere are rejoicing.
If you did a little research, you would realize that Bowie didn't exactly come out of nowhere. She has already run 11.10, the #7 time of the year and faster than everyone in the race except Ahoure. She did not deserve to be in lane 1 any more than Felix deserved to be in lane 7.
She's never run the 200m. She got in the race by a stroke of luck. But she certainly made the most of it. Look forward to seeing more of her.
Reminiscent of a certain female 800 runner, little-known and unsponsored, last minute entry, who beat a solid field including the defending Oly champion in '09.

To much to early in the year. American style coaching forgets the European season starts in June ! Maybe if True takes some time rebuilds , he can be back after the break in August.
